Unlocking Websites- Which ones are safe ?
Ok I have never had to do this before but I have just bought a secondhand Nokia 5800 xpressmusic. The previous owner used it on O2 & on Virgin with no problems but it does not seem to work on Tmobile so I assume it needs unlocked ?
I also "think" that there are no free codes for this but are there any web sites recommended/best avoided for unlocking codes ? Is it safe giving out IMEI codes ?(whatever they are !)
Many thanks
Colin

HI Colin, have a scout through this page - you'll find it very helpful;

In our market is a little shop that does unlocking for about a tenner, while you wait. Takes less than a minute.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

You have a problem, if the phone has worked on o2 and Virgin it is already unlocked. If it was locked it would only work on one network.
I would hazard a guess you have been sold a phone that has since been blacklisted (lost, stolen or insurance scam).
When you put your sim in the phone, what happens?====0 -

If I put an O2 sim in then all works properly but if I put my Tmobile sim in then I get a "x" where the signal strength bar is & if I try to make a call a message saying "emergency calls only". If I use another mobile then I get full strength Tmobile signal so am not in a dead spot. As the O2 sim works would not have thought it was blacklisted ?0 -
takes a few days for all the networks to get blocked
does look like it is thoughEx forum ambassador

Where did you buy it from?0

It was purchased from a good friend so it will not be a problem0

Some "friends" don't realise that selling a phone and then reporting it lost to their insurance as a way of getting an upgrade now results in the old phone being added to the IMEI blacklist. There might have been no intent on their part to defraud you, but that is the way it now works.
If the phone worked on o2 and Virgin, and now won't work on T-mobile (Virgin is a MVNO on T-Mobile) then the phone is either blocked or faulty.====0 -
Thanks to all but have got to the bottom of the problem:- I borrowed a 3rd tmobile sim on payg & it works fine ! Turns out both the sims that Tmob sent to me are faulty in some way so they are sending me 2 more to try0
