The pub in Seahouses might be the Olde Ship Inn or the Black Swan.
Recent Guardian article on Northumberland pubs with good food - although mainly in the Tyne Valley.

Thanks all for your recommendations. We have got it sorted now, Friday dinner The Oaks in Alnwick, been here before and it's good pub grub and not far from where we are staying. Sat our anniversary Cafe Curio in Berwick, looks good and a wee bit different. Sunday night The Cook and Barker not seen this one before and not far from us again and looks really good too. So, should be a few pounds heavier on our return to Lincs but well worth it.
Thanks again all.I USED TO BE INDECISIVE BUT NOW I'M NOT SO SURE!

Just a quick update and to say thanks to all who offered advice and recommendations.
As planned we had dinner at the Oaks Hotel in Alnwick on the Friday night.... Good food and good service. We have been here many times before and it has been consistantly good.
Saturday (anniversary) we went to Cafe Curio in Berwick on Tweed. I have to say this was exceptional. Food excellent and service first class. The chef brings the main course to your table and explains all about it. It is a small intimate setting and unusual in that it is like an antique shop. I can't rate it highly enough. Check the opening times if you are planning to visit as it only opens on I think 3 evenings a week and is a set menu but loads of different dishes are served. It is also a cafe during the day and open 7 days a week. Check out the reviews on trip advisor.
Sunday evening was dinner at the Cook and Barker pub in Newton on the Moor. Another great place, wonderful restaurant rooms full of character, service good and meals were excellent.I USED TO BE INDECISIVE BUT NOW I'M NOT SO SURE!

Hi - I've never actually been but heard the Tree House restaurant is amazing - Looks gorgeous http://www.alnwickgarden.com/eat/eat-in-the-treehouse
There's also a fab coffee shop which is a bistro by night, with a farm shop attached, it's nr Druridge Bay which is absolutely gorgeous, stunning coastline. I've been a few times to the coffee shop and can vouch for the lunchtime food, the bistro should be just as good as it's all homemade food.
It's about half an hour drive from Alnwick according to google. We drive for about 45 mins to visit the coffee shop and go to the beach as it's well worth it. http://www.thecountrybarn.co.uk/
Hope this helps! Enjoy!
