Can somebody tell me who British Gas use to do credit checks? Wish to get rid of my pre-payment meter.

Will fail, but can pay the deposit. Just wanting to know the agency they use.

Also my understanding is that BG report to the credit reference each time you pay your bill in time, this correct? Thinking good to build credit score.

thanks

So if British Gas do change your meter you are going to magically transform your behaviour and start managing your income correctly? You can't manage your money to make other monthly payments but will have the discipline for quarterly fuel payments? Good luck with that.

experian they use, if you have managed your pre-pay they may ask you for a deposit of say £300

Yes, the credit reference agency will be informed of how you operate a credit account.

e.g. payment in full that month, payments in arrears etc.

If you have a really poor credit rating, the supplier may not agree to you having any credit even if you can stump up a security deposit

How can you manage to stump up the typical £300 security depaost when you say you need a crisis loan this week because your Income Support is late?

  • I don't get why people seem to always have a go just because you're on benefits?

No one is having a go at this person because she is on benefits.

The fact is that this particular person contradicts herself/himself every time they make a posting. The OP must think that we are as stupid as they are.

It's a sort of "I'm better than you" thing. They enjoy seeing the downfall of others and rubbing it in in some way. It's usually people who are less confident in themselves who resort to that sort of behaviour.
