I have put a hardrive in a ide hardrive casing but although it is showing in my computer all it says when I try to explore or open it is 'Drive is not formatted would you like to format now y/n'
By right clicking its properties it is showing as a RAW system with 0 used space and 0 free space, it was previously an NFTS system
Does it look like I've lost all the drive contents or can I fix this please?
I have tried to scan it with malwarebytes and it takes only 1 minute but it is an 80gb hardrive

have you tried removing the driver for the harddrive then restarting?Always remember that you're unique, just like everybody else:cool:0

When you say hard drive casing, is it a USB casing ?, if so did you make your IDE drive a master, jumper select on drive.
Be very careful that you do NOT write to that drive.
Have a look here, this may help

Have you removed this HDD from a working or non-working system in order to put it in a casing/caddy and connect it to another system to grab the data ....?
If so, was it the master drive in the system you took it from? If not, as previous poster said, you may need to alter its jumper setting.
Some history of where this HDD has been may help.0

Log in as an administrator and go into the disk manager (start -> run -> diskmgmt.msc) and ensure that it's showing up there. You may need to 'import' it, which just part of the connection process - it doesn't write to the drive. Once you've done this once your system will recognise it in future.
Malwarebytes can't scan a drive it cannot access...0

I just checked the disk manager and it is already in there showing as a healthy disc but it does say there is 100% free space and the size of it smaller than I thought, I thought it was an 80gb drive but it says 30.50gb, I might have rememered it wrong though. In the file system bit it is blank but the other drive is showing as ntfs. I notice where the main drive is showing as 'healthy system' the raw drive is showing as just healthyThanx

Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management then Disk Management.
Right click the drive, select change drive letters and path, and assign a letter. Confirm the operation.
Once this is done it should show up as NTFS again from My Computer and then you should be able to access the drive again. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Would it be sure to find the driver again as it is an external usb drive?Thanx
