I have laughed so hard at some of these....:rotfl:

Worst present I can remember (so far) was my 1st xmas with OH. For reasons too long to go into his ex-wife and DD were staying with us - and he got us all the same remote control mini-car and light up pen - nicked from work. :p

For years now I have been saying I want the delia smith summer and winter collection cook books. I now have every other 'celebrity chef' under the sun -but still no delia.

ah well - happy chrimbo moneysaving to one and all :rudolf:

My auntie (who isn't short of a bob or two) sent me and hubby a plastic fly splatter a few years ago, and last year she sent us a wasp catcher, it was a bright yellow plastic pod that I really couldn't work out how it would ever catch wasps, no prizes for guessing that they both ended up in the bin. Was thinking of sending her a really useless present this year to see how she likes it.

I think they sell the wasp catcher in the Lakeland catalogue, is this the one http://www.lakeland.co.uk/product.aspx/!2851
    At least it cost £3.99

My hubby is worried because my mum keeps giving me murder books like ' Women Who Kill their Husbands'. I get at least 2 of these every Christmas

Hehehe, you should get together with the poster who got an axe & wheelbarrow from the Outlaws!

I must admit I have been quite lucky with presents. My dad usually gets me practical clothes, not very girlie but cosy & my OH is wonderfully thoughtful when it comes to pressies (lucky me!) I really can't think of any really rubbish pressies I have received, although I do have a popcorn maker that I have never used, a bread maker that never worked & a coffee maker from the inlaws, which was lovely except for the fact that they must have forgotten they had bought us one two years previously!
  • Oh, having said that I have never had rubbish presents. One year my auntie bought me two ornamental dolls sat in those 70's style wicker chairs (you know the huge wickerwork armchair type thingies.) I really wasn't sure what I was meant to do with them... I have no idea what happened to them. She did on the other hand buy me a great piggy bank that I still have to this day & doubles as a door stop!
  • About 8 years ago my stepdad got my mum this awful headband thing from the local xmas market, it was greay & white fleece and had a picture of a lizard on the front - perfect if you're a hiker, which my mum isnt.

Anyway, my mum isnt the most gracious & grateful of people so xmas day on opening this came out with the "what the **** is this you've bought me???" line, but the rest of found it hilarous. Mum had her picture taken in it (as we do anytime we get given something dodgy) and put it in the rubbish bag with the wrapping paper. I dug it out. And have given it to her every year since, always wrapped up in various disguises. Every year she poses with it on her head and every year tries to dispose of it. Its been in the rubbish, hidden in the garden, thrown in the fire and moved house with my about 10 times in the last few years, and I still know exactly where it is ready to be wrapped up again in December :D

I am guilty of having given naff pressies last year, it was unintentional. I had a friend in a bit of a fix no cash no electric ect so we said come to us for christmas so over she came a couple of says before, then panic stations he bro and his friend (17 and 14) arrive unexpectledly at hers on xmas eve they liev in france, of course we bring them over to us, phone her mother so she knows where they are. The only even vaguely suitable gifts I had in my pressie box were glass candle holders fairly nice ones but not really a good gift for a teenage boy, and credit to them they were ever so polite - though they must have wondered why the strange english woman gave them these things - then they must have been even more bewildered when my OH family arrived and all chaos ensued with me trying to seat everyone for dinner, we ended up with people in the kitchen, front room and utility room. I think it put them off the idea of running away again though!
  • I once was given 8 legs of venison on xmas day, but had to return them as it was too dear!
