Panel or storage heaters

I posted this is in elec and gas forum incorrectly so i'll try here.

I've moved into a 1980's two bed flat that has old storage heaters which i can't get on with, they only are controlled by a economy 7 supply activation and by the time i get home from work have little heat in them so i am using a fan heater as backup.
I'm thinking of changing them to a more modern setup possibly with panel heaters where i can have the heaters in the rooms controlled seperatly with thermostats in each room. I can then have the heaters come on for a short time in the morning and then the living room in the evening followed by the bedroom all at different times. They will be using peak time electricity but will be using it alot more efficently, the flat being fairly modern has double glazing and insulation. Does anyone else use electric heaters in this way and is it a comparable cost wise to using storage heaters.

One of he the problem's i have is similar to some other posts in this forum being consensation, i want to try to have a design that is more like a conventinal central heating system but using electricity

Dump the Economy 7 tariff, and go for air source heat pump, so you get on demand heating. The wall mounted ones are less disruptive to install than underfloor heating, which takes quite a while to warm up.

If you use the panel heaters you will have to change from Economy 7 to a Singe rate tariff otherwise they'll be very expensive to run at peak rate hours. I wouldn't imagine there'd be a great difference in cost though between running the storage heaters on E7 and using panel heaters on a single rate tariff. That being said, I would expect your condensation problem to worsen with panel heaters if they are not used overnight when the room temperature drops lower. At least the storage heaters would have been warming the room temps to lessen the condensation. You could consider using a dehumidifier over night if you decide on the panel heaters.

I have two of these in my bungalow. They are a lot more expensive to buy than panel heaters but very cheap to run. The OP never said if they were renting or home owner. If renting, I suppose panel heaters will be the only other viable alternative.
