As others have said, Marmite, Heinz tomato soup are the two that I find own brands just don't have the same taste. I'm also a fan of good tea - I buy Twinings loose leaf Traditional Afternoon blend when I can, but not many supermarkets stock it.
For the person who complained about the strength of Twinings tea, it's not the tea that affects the strength - it's the blend. English Breakfast is a mild blend - designed to be that way.0 -
Yorkshire Gold Tea bags.................ah bliss with the McVities digestives.Ellie
"man is born free but everywhere he is in chains"
J-J Rousseau0 -
free range eggs
branded coffee
heinz beans
decent bread0 -
I buy Shredded Wheat or Shreddies bite-size. Sometimes they're on offer so I stock up.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.
Lou Reed The Last Shot0 -
Proper bread, as in Kingsmill. It stays fresher for longer and is softer.
Also branded mayonaise eg. Hellmans.
Heinz Tomato Ketchup.0 -
Yorkshire tea here too :coffee: (I know the smiley is coffee but still, ooooh!)
Washing powder - I much prefer Ariel with febreze or Bold 2 in 1 to anything else, although I try to buy on offer.
Fairy dishwasher tablets
Activia yogurts0 -
Free range eggs and "proper" sausages.
If I can't find them, I just don't buy any. I'm French, and regular sausages ( the pale pink, mushy ones) are pretty much the only British food item that's always baffled me. What on earth is it about??? They're vile! There's hardly any meat in them, they look awful and taste even worse. Really, I don't understand.
Whiskas dry food, because I have a fussy little madam for a cat.
Campbell's condensed mushroom soup - for cooking with.
Diet coke.
Bisto onion gravy granules.
Sensodyne toothpaste, Velvet TP, Aussie 3 mins conditioner, St Yves apricot scrub, Tampax.
Everything else, I buy own brand or value, or whichever brand is on offer.0 -
Thanks everyone - really interesting!
(Also reminded me that I too buy Heinz tomato soup and Hellmann's Mayo. Forgot about those ... )0 -
Heinz ketchup,it's the only one i like apart from daddies but it's the same price and made by heinz anyway,Heinz beans too because i love them and i buy boxes of nescafe double chocolate mocha's rather than regular coffee, they are by far more expensive but i would rather have 8 drinks a week that i enjoy than drink 'normal' coffee.:o0
