To be fair this thread title should read '120,000 pages of excrement over on hpc'. Because that's all the ghouls and vultures wallow in over there. Horrendous website populated by some of the worst characters ever born.

I think we have all been giving them airtime they would not recieve in real life.
It's the power of the internet.

The chance for anyone to have a big voice. In real life you wouldn't give these people the time of day with their views because you would sterotype them into their groups.

All the bears with the extreme views. How do you know they are:

Not the old guy mopping the bogs at work?

    A bingo caller?

    Alcoholics?

    Drug users?

    Unemployed?

Pushing trollies round Asda car park?

Divorcee's paying the CSA with no hope of ever buying.

    Unmarried mothers with 4 kids.

    Lazy.

If you found out for sure that Realist Bear, Bloo Loo, Gloomy and co were in any of the above groups would you give a toss what their views were?

    Of course not.

They will be posting on message boards forever because in real life nobody gives them the time of day.

They have had the kick up the goolies they deserve now.

It really is time to blank them.

I know you haven't said any of this on this thread, I'm just off on a tangent, but I just saw that "in the hope of gettign a cheap house" thing as a bit of a mock on someone else, because maybe it will mean they have prospered more than someone else who's invested previously.

It's not a mock though is it? The vast majority on that site are hoping for a crash which will lead to 'cheap' houses relative to the recent market. That's a fact.

There's more I want to say but my baby daughter is getting fed up with me being on the laptop, something I'm sure you can identify with!

Well they spouted crap for years and didn't let us have our say when the time came.

    It's old history now anyway.

  • The chances are that house prices are going to crash, I dont see how they can stay at this level, historically a bubble has always ended with a crash, what makes this time any different. It will benefit our children and grandchildren if house prices are affordable, why would we wish them to be unaffordable. Hoping that we will keep the vast profits made in the last few years at the youngs expense is rather selfish. It is the young who will be paying our pensions, we wouldn't want all the young talent to clear off and work abroad.

    Its never ending :wall:

The only thing I will ever agree on is the price should not forced up or down.
This whole silly debate explains why subsidies end up such a mess, everyone has different reasons for wanting it cheaper or more expensive no one should receive favouritism.
Its like watching five year olds squabble

Value the house in the price of petrol over time or the average rental price in that area.
Anything at all but plain cash and it will immediately improve the chances of actually getting a conclusion on, are house prices going up or not

They are printing off new cash and applying all sorts of subsidies that effect house prices.
This discussion will be exactly the same in a years time unless people take into account somehow the changing prices of everything else

It is worth noting that the more vehement and polarised a persons forum posts are the less likely they are to be taken seriously.

Fortunately there is still a majority that wish to be part of a debate, rather than just adopting the 'fingers in ears and shout louder' approach.

Incidentally to add some anecdotal evidence to the debate in my search area I am only seeing either static or price reductions.

Where is the direct connection between a fall in the value of your house and losing ones job?

Stop being so disingenuous, you know exactly the connection.

Most of that shower are just losers with no money or prospects. As far as I'm concerned I'm glad they will never own a house. I'd hate them to live next door to me.

WOW. I'm glad to see that MSEers can match HPC for nasty posts:(
