Have a look at this comparison of DSLRs http://www.t3.com/feature/best-digital-slrs They are all well over your budget but are the best you can get.
For £350 or less IMO you can't beat the Panasonic Lumix g10 see here:

I’ve have Nikon budget DSLR (d50) and have used Canon and Sony I don’t think there is a lot between them all. I chose the Nikon because of the way it felt in my hand, which I think is very important.

I had a Minolta film SLR and got feed up waiting for them to bring out a DSLR so I sold it and bought top of the range none SLR digital camera otherwise I would have gone with the Sony as they use the Minolta lens mount.

The Nikon has been the only digital camera that I have been happy with and would now only consider a true DSLR type cameras

I agree with Tribulation that you need to ask your husband

Before I bought my DSLR (Sony A330) i wentand tried lots in the shop, some felt much heavier than others, and some just did not fit my hands at all - I would have found them extremely difficult to use if it was not comfortable to hold.

Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

  • Yeah you'll need to ask the hubby i'm afraid.

I like many others went to shops tested the models I had in mind and also consulted with my gf's B.I.L who has his own photography business.

The thing to remember is that once you start the SLR route, you'll stick with that family of camera's as if you look after the lenses you'll only upgrade the bodies!

I bought a canon 500D for £410 from the canon refurbished page on ebay, not much of a saving, but every little helps!
:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!
