I have read lots of posts mentioning vinegar as a very good cleaning product.
What i wanted to know was,how do you use it?
Do you dilute it? Put it in a spray bottle? Leave it soak in? etc and is it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?
Thanks in advance.

I tend to use vinegar for glass cleaning only but some do get quite evangelical about the 'humble condiment' and clean everything with it (no names listed to protect the innocent)
For glass cleaning I mix 1 part vinegar to 10 water and spray on as I would normal glass cleaner. it doesn't evaporate as quick as glass cleaner cos there is no alcohol in it but I find it doesn't steak even if I'm a bit tardy on the buffing up.
You can also use it in place of rinse aid in the dishwasher. Pour into rinse aid dispenser (neat).
To use as a fabric softener (very good at removing lint) pour a cap neat into fabric softener dispenser.
I'll no vacate the floor to make room for more experienced vinegar abusers hehehehLife's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

Aaaah the virtues of vinegar (white that is!!), it's saved me loads of money, my washing machine was leaking and I called a chap out........................but he never came! So I had nothing to lose by trying vinegar out in the machine on a hot wash......................sure enough it unblocked LOADS of crap and the machine has been ok since!
Also extremely effective for descaling appliances and showerheads.
For bathroom use, I use 50:50 mix, it's great for getting rid of limescale and polishing the tiles.
Best use of all though is..................................on chips! yum!Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Not at all. The smell seems to evaporate. I use it in my washing most, and there have been no complaints from my boyfriend, who is very fussy.
PS I had fish and chips a few weeks ago and before I never had vinegar in the house, this time I had plenty!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

Ah ok thanks, how much do you put in with your washing, if you don't mind my asking?0

The best vinegar for chips is the 'non-brewed condiment' that you can only get in fish and chip shops, but they will sell it to you.The only stupid question, is an unasked question ...0

I use white vinegar to descale my kettle, it does the job just as well as those chemical ones, I boil the kettle a couple of times afterwards as well just to make sure no vinegar taste remains.0
