Yes Carl, it is.Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

Yep, white distilled vinegar, it is clear (not white coloured).
Use white for cleaning and in the washing as it will not stain, however you can use normal brown vinegar on things that won't stain. Try boiling brown vinegar and pouring it on weeds to kill them.
Washing - use white, either just put a small capful in each wash or use the vinegar softner. 2 parts vinegar; 2 parts bicarb; 4 parts water; a couple of drops of essential oil (I use tea tree, only because hubby says lavendar smells of old ladys!)

Judi - How about a sticky links page (like the food one) for the vinegar links? (I don't know how to do short links on this new forum) I'm sure it would help all the newbies to old style. When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Hi, I'm a newbie... a 'sticky link' for vinegar would help me no end
Thanks for such a great site!!!I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I mostly use vinegar in the washing machine, a capful in the softner compartment with every cycle (never used bicarb with it though? It seems to work fine on it's own & I only use a cold wash). I also use it as a sterliser in conjunction with boiling water when necessary on jam jars & the cat litter trays etc, and as a descaler in the kettle & on the shower head, neat in the toilet as a descaler & antiseptic treatment & neat on chrome taps & the draining boards to clean & make them shine.
The smell evaporates as soon as it dries.
I buy it in 5 gallon cartons in the cash & carry, by far the cheapest place for me!

I was "spreading the vinegar word" last night when some friends were complaining about their scratchy towels. They were most impressed with the uses for vinegar, when I explained. Though I could sense that they were falling asleep slightly.....Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
