That depends on many factors, which airports can you travel from, what time of year you would like to go, how long would you like to go for and what class of travel / hotel you would like?

As has been mentioned it all depends on budget and where you are flying from. So many Hotels to choose from and so many areas to stay.

If I was you do your home work on Manhattan try to find out which area suits you best, what you want to see and how long you plan to visit for could determine where you stay. Five nights is not a bad length to a first visit and you will go back.

There is no particular cheap time to go as it is a busy place all year around.

If you PM me with your email address I can sent you some info that might help you with places to see etc. :)
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • we are going on the 17th December, returning to UK on 24th, 5 nights in a Ramada and flights cost us c £540 each but we are staying a bit further out in Bayside, Queens for the more authentic NY experience, plus it was a helluva lot cheaper! Heathrow to JFK. That was through Expedia but they had cheaper options if you were willing to fly into one airport and stay near another - craziness! HTH x
