what a fantastic idea, although its no good for Daniel as he's too old, i know somebody who it could benefit, thanks!I really don't know that much about autism at all, but all of you've said sounds a lot like my mums friends son. They managed to get him one of those disability dogs (i'm sorry i honestly don't know the correct name for them). Anyway, this dog just made amazing changes in her son. He knew he had responsibility - went out took him on walks etc.. he began socializing with people.. going back to college etc.

What about a pet dog for him though? It would get him out of the house, he would have someone to love etc. my DS adores our dog and would be lost without her now, and he was the one who was most resistant to her arrival in the first place! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

...and to make sure you got a calm dog.... an ex guide dog?0 -
I know that a few other people have suggested what about dogs or a pet for your son, and I know that as he is older rather than classed as a child it may still benefit him. There has been alot of research done from children and adults with autism and them getting a pet, it can improve their speech and communication greatly. I will pm a link with a phone number of a charity that does alot of work with this as im a new user and cant post links

I'm only 20 but I am really interested in disabilties such as autism and I really hope that you can find a way of communicating with him on a level that works for both of you
P.S. sorry if any of this sounds a bit pushy and if you think ive said anything out of line, i know that some people can get a bit funny if you use the words disability and things such as autism in the same sentance!:o:rotfl:0
