Best gaming pc deals around?

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new pc. I need the lot, new monitor (pref flat) and the computer needs to be quite top spec. A lot of high graphic games get played on it and it needs pretty high memory.

I have been looking at the dell website and found one on there for about £579 (Dimension E520 but i upgraded the graphics card), are there better deals around?

Thanks. Carrie.

It is usually cost effective to buy a dell that has a changeable graphics card and to then buy the card from elsewhere. You will get a far better card for the same money dell will charge you to upgrade.

Make sure whatever you buy has a pci express slot.

Also make sure you spend the money on the graphics card rather than other bit, make sure you get 1gb ram too.

  • Considering that the first Directx 10 parts are coming out in the next month or so I would wait! Why? This will make the existing Directx 9.0 graphics cards drop down in price!

The minimum graphics card I would go for would be a Nvidia 7600GT or ATI X1650 pro!
  • Also go for processor speed too as only games such as Crysis(which will be release next year) will take advantage of dual core processors!

I don't really know the ins and outs of a computer so is this spec good for the price?

  • For comparison this is what a very high spec gaming pc (single gpu) would cost:

    ASUS P5B Deluxe motherboard - £120

    Intel Conroe e6400 cpu - £157

    2GB OCZ Platinum PC2-6400 RAM - £210

    ATI Radeon x1950xtx graphics - £313

    Enermax Noisetaker 600W psu - £83

    Lian-Li PC70 case - £140

Logitech MX Revolution mouse - £70

    Saitek Eclipse 2 keyboard - £34

    Creative X-Fi Xtreme soundcard - £65

    Samsung Synchmaster 205BW 20" widescreen TFT - £250

    Logitech Z-5500 5.1 speakers £200

Total about £1800. It's what I would build for myself right now if I could afford it.

    I wish..........
