thanks everyone for making that very clear.
one last question i promise, if I ever have to make a claim with RM for lost items whether it be in this country or another, does the buyer have to co-operate in order for me to claim money back?
not saying the buyer wouldnt co-operate anyway but i had an item go missing once before, went to do an RM claim but in the end didnt bother as I thought it said unless buyer co-operates they wont do anything and i couldnt be bothered to waste time for the small amount the item was worth if that ended up happening.
thanks again everyone for all the help:):j0 -
abroad is not too much issues as long its good feedback from buyer
But you won't know what feedback the buyer will leave for you until you post the item?
Also don't forget buyers can only have positive feedback as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. This is a big argument in favour of keeping the buyer happy if things go wrong rather than just fobbing them off.thanks everyone for making that very clear.

I would be happy to co-operate if things went wrong, but only if the seller was attentive and responsible."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

I have found that selling items abroad does not cause any additional problems. As stated above, you are still insured with RM to £41.
I only sell personal items but in the past couple of months have had buyers from Japan, Brazil, Spain and Turkey. These have been some of the friendliest buyers I have encountered on ebay.
The transactions have been concluded with no problems (low value under £41).
I would only add Airsure if it was a high value item or if it goes for more than expected.
I would always recommend adding an international postage price to your auction to open it up to more buyers.
If something goes wrong with the sale, good communication goes a long way whether domestic or international. Most international buyers will appreciated it takes a bit longer to deliver the item.
Hope this helps.0
