Price rises by stealth

I've noticed lately how many food manufacturers put prices up
not by raising the till price but by charging the same for a lesser amount
examples
bernard matthews turkey ham pack size down from 400 to 340g
now the new walkers crisps (potato heads) pack size down from 25g to 23g
anybody else noticed this rip off by stealth

It was either on Watchdog or the kids show like watchdog several years ago.

I noticed this starting to happen quite a few years back with Tampax. It started off as 40 in a box and they have steadily reduced the number you get in a box but kept the price the same or slightly hiked it!

Last time I checked it was down to around 32 in the box, do they think we aren't going to realise!?!? Hmm perhaps that's exactly why they do it....

I was just going to say that Velvetglove - yes, down to just 32 now but same bloomin' price!!

...back to the old tricks again!!! The market is so competitive at the moment that any of these "scams" seem to be par for the course. I tend to look out for, and compare, price per sheet/kg/gram/litre, etc. etc., which is really the only way to compare anyway! If Gordon Brown does it, then the sheep will follow!
