They have recently taken screenselect over.
Now screenselect had three options of rentals, 1,2 or 3 dvd rentals where the most expensive is £14.99 per month. By dvd they meant dvds or games..
Now lovefilm.com have taken over they have 6 plans..
1 dvd at a time £9.99
2 dvds "" £12.99
3 dvds "" £14.99
1 dvd or game at a time £12.99
2 dvds or games "" £16.99
3 dvds or games "" £19.99
So not only have they knocked the price up by 6quid per month for dvds and games, but they also charge £21 to change your package!
Be aware.

hm. Interesting - I was with Screenselect (now Lovefilm) and decided to quit - I was paying £9.99 for 1 DVD at a time. As I worked my way through the quitting process, they started offering me other options and I'm now paying £5.99, to receive 2 DVDs a month (sent out separately). It may be worth trying to quit and see if Lovefilm will also offer a better deal.0

I'm with Amazon dvd rental at £5.99/month for three dvds/month sent one at a time, 1st month free, no charge to change rental plan. Found it to be 100% reliable for the four months I've been using them.
The only negative so far is the need to know beforehand film you want to watch and search for it because that's easier than scrolling through a vast number of pages with no particular order to the dvds.0 -
I had no problems with screenselect, im beginning to have second thoughts about lovefilm.0

I'm with Tesco DVD Rental and have found it a fabulous service. Not I don't work for them I'm just a happy customer!
A couple of weekends ago I got an email saying Tesco DVD rental were switching over to being run by Lovefilm and that the logo would change (It curerently says powered by Video Island.
The website was indeed down for a while as they promised but it still says it is 'powered by Video Island.'
Wierd huh?Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0 -
Tesco DVD is powered by Screenselect /Video Island (owners of Screenselect), now rebranded to Lovefilm... it's probably that Tesco have yet to update the information on their site.
I have been a customer of Screenselect for over a year and like others am now considering whether their previous good value is failing. Think I will try quitting and see what they offer me to stay...0 -
ive taken advantage of every free offer these companies have done-
screenselect was the best by far- lovefilm isn't great, don't get dvd's in the same frequency- amazon are much better - quick turn around, emails to state they've recieved dvd's back, only problem is their site suffers from th same awful search engine their main site does-
tesco took so long to verify my card details i cancelled before my package even started, now see that they are gonna become lovefilm so wont go back....
blockbuster i found to have a much smaller selection
at the moment amazon is winning and if they didn't limit the dvd's by only sending out say 6 a month i'd probably stay-
as it is i think ill be out of the DVD by post game, it used to work really well yet now there is no one company that gets it all right

Thanks for that courtjester.
It is ironic isn't it. I was singing Tesco's praises on another thread on here but in the last fortnight they've taken a real dive in quality.
I've been watching the CSI Season 1 series quite happliy until I changed my deal from 1 disc (because I was so happy) to 2 discs (more delight I thought!)
Since then in the last 5 discs they've sent me - 4 of them have been in the wrong packet! Including the same wrong one twice!!!
I mean they do dispatch quickly when they make a mistake but they keep sending emails saying its not a usual problem but I reckon it is. What are the odds of what happened to me happening to anyone else?
Has anyone else had the same type of problem with discs in a series being in the wrong packets?
I'd had enough when I sent the last one back and stuck large pink post-its on it saying it was in the wrong case!!! And one on case saying it had the wrong disc inside!!! Let them try and miss that!
It isn't asking too much is it for them to check the discs when they get them back. Was prob a customer that returned them in wrong packets but they should check either on dispatch or receipt that the disc matches the case!
Rant over - thanks for listening folks.
Anyway if they haven't sorted it out by the end of half term I'm going back to the 1 disc deal. Then it may still be as crap but I won't care as much.Don't grow up. Its a trap!
Peace, love and labradors!0
