I suspect that is your problem Bristle Noses are a bit sensitive to nitrate. Bad news about your water supply!
Live plants can help, but I would just suggest that unless you are prepared to get your water from alternative sources, those fish aren't for you.0 -

The point remains that its still the sellers responsibility to prove all of this.... so the op should still have a successful claim.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -

If they are a decent aquarium shop, then quite probably. They would quite likely have no problem refunding £9 in order to keep their business in the future.
Fish keeping is an expensive business! Aside from food, the fish themselves are probably the cheapest aspect! Over the past couple of days I've spent well over £100 on aquarium related stuff and that's not including fish or the aquarium itself!
But; from the sounds of things the fish themselves weren't 'faulty', more 'incompatible'!0 -
You are entitled to a repair. Take the fish back and demand that they are repaired within 7 days.
[Actually, you are entitled to a refund if they were diseased and you did nothing wrong in putting them in the tank]0 -

It's possible they were diseased, but it's more likely they just didn't take to the conditions in the OP's tank. But unless specific requirements were set out to him at the time of purchase that isn't really his fault.0 -
Forgive my ignorance, but I vaguely remember watching watchdog or similar programme, suggesting that even pets are covered under Consumer Rights?0
