How do you set up more than one account?

When I joined Ebay many years ago I was under the impression you couldn't have more than one account.
I read that many people on here have more than one business and personal accounts.
How do you have 2 personal accounts? Do you need 2 bank details etc..
Many thanks

Yes you need completely different bank accounts for both as well as different email addresses etc. They can all be linked to the same paypal account though.
At the very least people should keep their buying and selling accounts seperateI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. OK, thanks.
Can the addresses be the same though? I do have a flex account (very MSE for travel - well it was!!) I can use but it's registered to my home address too. Can I use this one or can I have the second account based at work?
Why have a buying and selling account separate?0 -

If you buy and sell on the same account and run into a real problem of a seller you may find your auctions wrecked later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You need a different email address for each one but that's all AFAIK.
I definitely agree with using separate buying and selling accounts, not sure about this but I think the selling account that got wrecked either was wrecked because of posting on the forums or negging one particular seller who reacted badly. The way I knew I'd been wrecked was he was doing it to someone else too and they got in touch with me about it, but too late to prove to eBay that he was wrecking. So it's quite a good piece of advice, but don't go thinking you have to set up another bank account to do it."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

So I can run two or more accounts from my home address, BUT with different email adresses and possible the same bank account (well I would use a different one as I have a spare)??
Thanks0 -
Yes, I seem to have had no problems doing that at least, although I am not a business seller, unlike Soo.
Don't do this, however, if you have been restricted from selling on one or to get around having to register as a business (given what your last thread was about). eBay do have very good ways of linking accounts and if you get restricted on one, you aren't allowed to get very far with another account."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

That may be true, but surely if I can have more than one private account that shouldn't stop me opening another account. I am so cross that they may force me into a situation where if I change my current account to a business one I am in fact lying to the buyers. I'm not business and refuse to be treated as such, especially when you see all the obviously 'fake' private accounts.0

I can't really advise you any other way. I do think it's unfair, but it's their ruling, I'm afraid. All I can tell you is what I know - that they do compare details across accounts."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

Looks like OH may open an ebay account tonight, using the other bank account, different email address, just the same home address then.
Of course Ebay may see sense and uphold my appeal - I know, never going to happen.
I appreciate all advise thanks all.0
