Its the same metre, thats what i dont understand ! the gas company told me id have to be supplying the entire town to clock up that much usage !0

Can you contact the repair people and find out what they did? They ought to have a record of what was done, ideally with meter readings when he did the work. If the man didn't change the meter, maybe he could have rotated the dial somehow? At least the readings are insane enough for anyone to appreciate you couldn't have used that much gas in such a short time.

Do you think the previous owners forgot the first '6' when they gave their reading? Should have read 6677 rather than 677. If that's the case, and your present reading is 6833, then your useage would be 156 units.
By using http://www.energylinx.co.uk/gas_meter_conversion.html and entering 156 in both the m3 and the ft3 sections, these figures show:-
156 units used m3 meter = approx £40 (seems resonable)
156 units used ft3 meter = approx £185 (seems unreasonable)0 -
Iv just contacted national grid who were the company who came out for my first gas smell.
They said that there may still be a leak for it to use that much gas so they are sending someon out to make sure its all ok , in the mean time they are checkign the orignal report for a reading and will get him to check that the metre is working correctly !!!
I hope it was read wrong, Im praying for it actually becasue i cannot afford these sort of bills !0 -
If there is still a leak on that sale you would be able to smell it.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thats what i said to the lady , "wouldnt i smell it ? or with that much usage wouldnt i be unconscious ?"
She said it might still be a possibility ha ha , 6000 units i think id know it !0 -
When i asked about the 677 reading that was given to the company , they said it was given by the previous owner and they were in keeping with all previous readings so how its jumped to 6833 is beyond me !
i think im going to ask the company to come and check the metre is ok, its definatley using a unit a day so far !
Are you sure the current reading is not 683.3?
You should ignore any partial units, shown in red on the meter.
If so, that would only cost about £5-£10. I suspect you didn't have much heat on in September/early October.
Where did the 818 reading come from? Did you supply that at the time of the switch?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... no the red numbers are seperate! at the moment its 6836.430
-
Be wary of getting them to check the meter because if it's okay then you pay for the test. As your readings are so crazy they may test it themselves but better I'd have thought that it's their idea and not yours.0

Could you answer this please?...

What did the emergency gas man say when he visited yesterday?
Did he refuse to come near due to the huge risk to personal safety, or couldn't he find any leak?"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
