Gillian Mckeith diet woes

I have been introducing Gillian McKeith recipes into my diet for about 3 months now and I really enjoy them, but I don't do the full-on diet and I also use a few other vegetarian and health food books.
I mix and match her recipes into the rest of my diet - I tend to eat whole grains, pulses, at least 5 fruit andveg a day, lots of water, etc and I feel great too! But I haven't splashed out on any of the really expensive items and I have built up my storecupbord slowly by trying a few new things each week.
I found that after 3-4 weeks, the pulses became 'normal' to my stomach and now it is only if I go back to my old ready-meal ways that I suffer with bloating or other tummy problems0 -
mikeywills wrote:Thanks Thriftylady, just checked out the bad science site, well you learn something new everyday. I wouldn't say I was gullible but when a TV channel backs someone for not one but several series you do expect their credentials to stand up to test.
Does that include Wife Swap? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
On a serious note, they are only interested in making programmes that are likely to draw in the viewers. And let's face it, we all love to see people being made to change their ways or some other kind of makeover .... most TV programmes are makeovers, in some wayWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
Hi, Mikey, I wasn't suggesting you were gullible:) And I don't think the woman is all bad, she certainly helps people towards a healthier lifestyle even if she is a bully:rotfl: I just think she plays up the expensive, faddy foods and doesn't give enough emphasis to cheap, homegrown healthy foods. I'm sure there's a place for a TV programme which shows people how to feed themselves and their families healthy food on a budget.0

You've got access to your pc again DFChick:j Hows the back ?0 -
You are obviously more sensible than I when it comes to these things annie-c, I do enjoy a number of her recipes, but find that some smell decidedly better than they taste.
Gillian Mckeith is clealy not a cook, as her aduki bean stew, contains many lovely vegetables but when combined distinctly lacks coherent flavour.
The morning fruit juices are lush as my OH would say, but I am seroiusly missing milk, and bread.I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -

Pretty good today, thank you :A
But I've been warned not to think I've fully recovered and "go back to normal", so I musn't be here all day :rotfl:

I know you weren't thriftlady, I never read the newspapers and seldom watch the news, so frequently don't see the other side of the coin on some of these things.
I couldn't go on the show myself, firstly my diet wouldn't have been bad enough to begin with, but I couldn't put up with her shocking tactics I would walk off. Its just enough for me to know I need to change, and try to do something about it.I had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
thriftlady wrote:What has she got against milk and bread ? I know some people are intolerant to them but for most people milk is an excellent food as is wholemeal bread
Don't know exactly, have tried soya milk, but don't like the taste, have got rice milk this week to see if thats any better.
I have always loved milk, even goats which I used to have as a kid warm from the goat of course.:DI had a plan..........its here somewhere.0 -
They can cause bloating in some people, I know they do in me, but I don't like milk and I make wholemeal bread for myself, everyone else here prefers white apart from my little partner in crime my 6 year old who likes 'bread with bits in'Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:
I have done reading too!
