Keep well clear of this one. We had a problem with the breakup of our TV pictures and called this company after finding it in Yellow pages. They sent someone round who tested things out for two hours, stated it was an electrical intereference fault and charged me £75 for the privilege of leaving me still without a TV signal.

The following day I paid an electrician to check out the internal electrics and following that EON visited and checked there was no external problems either.

I called this company back and they sent out a second engineer who immediately found a chafed cable from the aerial and charged me £95 to fix it.

I spoke to the owner of the company and politely enquired why I should have to pay all of the costs for the first visit when a) it was a simple fault and b)they didn't find it after 2 hours.

The owner was extremely rude an aggressive and so I simply put the phone down and came on here to warn everyone. Find another company this one has no concept of customer service and it will cost you twice as much as anywhere else as 50% of his staff don't seem to know what they are doing.

  • Hmm, interesting. We had problems with our Sky+ HD box about a year ago. Tried our old Panasonic box (stored in the attic) and that worked fine so there was obviously no problem with the signal getting to the box. Turned out to be the known power supply problem with the earlier Thomson boxes so we got the power supply upgraded (and a 1TB disk fitted).

Thought this had sorted things, but we soon started to get more problems just after we had some really windy and stormy weather - I suspected the dish could have moved in the wind - I went up a ladder and the dish was securely fixed, I couldn't move it by hand; called Steve Unett out and they found the dish was misaligned and realigned it. Anyway, all was ok after they realigned, but later we had more problems during the snows in February - I suspected the lnb could have got water in it from the snow and ice on it - called them out again and they checked and said the lnb was ok but THE DISH WAS MISALIGNED so they realigned it. Not had any problems since.

So they say the dish was misaligned twice and realigned it twice, within a period of a couple of months, after I had checked and found it was securely fixed. I can't prove that the dish didn't get knocked out of alignment somehow - they said "Oh, perhaps your neighbour knocked it" (the dish is on the side wall of the house actually over their land), but they hadn't. Whatever they did things are now working ok, but I can't help but be very puzzled and a bit suspicious over the whole episode. Did they not fix it securely enough the first time? Who knows.
  • I find both these posts suspect. I live in Gloucester and have used Steve Unett Aerials for my home, additional points, and my parents and one of my brothers have used him. His service is excellent and staff have always been nothing more than polite and professional. I do agree his prices are slightly more expensive than some other companies, but I believe you do get what you pay for and with Steve Unett this is certainly the case. I would whole-heartedly recommend this business, as do many people in Gloucester - I know this because his name is regularly banded about in a positive manner. Thanks, Tony

Not as suspect as a brand spanking shiny new user praising the complained about company! ;)
If my posts have random wrong words, please blame the damn autocorrect not me :D

Nice to see someone go to trouble of signing up then praise a company it looks even more suspect :D
  • I recently had a new aerial and was suspect of Steve Unett. They came round for a quote, but after I stated I will call them back after having a think, they virtually halved the price straight away. I went with Bullock Bros in the end. A top job they did also

    Problem with your sky equipment?

ring up, tell sky and threaten to cancel.

My dish was knocked out of alingment by a builder (can't prove it) and sky came out and fixed it for free.
