No, don't delete files in the search window. Just close the search window and start a new search.0

Have created new folder and dragged all of the above into it.
The folder sizes do not seem very big, so I do not think I have retrieved all of my folder list?Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
I exited OE so as to drag 1 of the search results into the new folder, I have just opened OE again and it has dowloaded all of the emails I have deeted, (TWICE) and put them again into my inbox, all 74 of them, I had also deleted the deleted boxDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0

Sounds like emails aren't being deleted on the email server after OE has downloaded them. This can happen if there is a bad email on the server which prevents OE from completing the process. Can you use webmail and delete the offending email or all emails that have already been downloaded?derrick wrote:I have just opened OE again and it has dowloaded all of the emails I have deeted, (TWICE) and put them again into my inbox, all 74 of them,0 -
The way I do it - and it works when transferring them to a new PC is to
1) Find them - look for all .DBX files
2) Make a note of their names & the folder they are in
3) Open OE
4) If any of the folders in 2) aren't in OE then create new folders with those names
5) Open each folder in OE
6) Close OE
7) Find out where your OE folders are held (another search on .dbx)
8) Copy the folders identified in 1) to the folder in 7)
9) Open OE.
So far it's worked everytime & on several machines0 -

so thats ok then, still don't have a clue how to retrieve the lost foders.
I have searched but is is not finding enough folders, plus it triplicates the results, and I do not have a clue what to do re your instructions, I am a complete technophobe.alanrowell wrote:The way I do it - and it works when transferring them to a new PC is to

Instead of searching for *.dbx files and getting confused by the results, find your OE Store Folder using this method: in OE, click Tools - Options - Maintenance tab - Store Folder. Copy (highlight and right-click then click Copy) the full path it shows and then click Cancel.
Then click Start - Run - right-click and click Paste and then click OK. Windows Explorer opens with your Store Folder showing.0 -
OK have got that,it is showing one "find" as "cleanup.log" which is an 8kb text doc, but when opening that "find" it is just gobbleygook, also that "find" was never in my dbx searches.Chippy_Minton wrote:Instead of searching for *.dbx files and getting confused by the results, find your OE Store Folder using this method: in OE, click Tools - Options - Maintenance tab - Store Folder. What do I do with it know?
I did not mean it is only showing 1 find, it is showing 8 in total, but that is still not enough.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
See post 2 and others from me in response to your questions.derrick wrote:What do I do with it know?
If that's all it's showing then that's all the emails you can recover I'm afraid. Other emails may be in the Store Folder for another OE Identity, however if you never created another Identity this is unlikely. To check, in OE click File - Identities - Manage Identities. How many identities are listed?I did not mean it is only showing 1 find, it is showing 8 in total, but that is still not enough.0 -
