Unfair UK Pricing on US Website
Comments

If a French person buys a Ford Focus in France an English person can buy it for the same price from the same dealer even if the person is based in the UK. The only difference could be delivery.
Again that isn't the same point.
The Ford Focus can be a different price from UK dealership to those in France. Whoever buys it is totally academic.
Going back to the original question, there is NO law which requires prices across Europe to be the same.0 -
Yeah this is definitely not true - if you look at a copy of The Guardian (or any other uk paper) when you buy it abroad it will say on it something along the lines of "Germany - 2€, France €1.50, Spain €3"0

there was a thread on clothing discrepancies on here not long ago with Next charging a different euro price to the pound price and it showing on the ticket"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Again if a German was buying it from the UK then it would be the uK price. Of course he would need to have it delivered at his cost to Germany.0 -

Yes but it's a different dealer. The same dealer would have to charge the same price wherever in the EU a buyer was from. That's the point of the OP.0 -

the dealer would have to have offered the price the same to everyone. But if it was the same spec of anything on sale in the EU then the prices would be different.
Dont get mixed up with what the OP was saynig and what you thought they said"If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

If it was a website based in the UK and we ignore delivery costs (e.g. for downloads) they cannot charge a UK resident one price for a service and a German resident a different price, simply because they live in Germany.
None of this applies to US vs UK of course!0 -
Someone has probably already mentioned this, but in all likelihood, the price on the US website excludes sales tax, whilst the UK price includes VAT. At least that's the norm with these pricing disparities.0

And I'm sure they'll add a bit on the top to take care of merchant costs for changing the currency, and to mitigate against currency fluctuations and to round it up to a nice number!0
