Do you know if any of his friends have a games console? If so find out what they've got (assuming he wants to play with/against them)
There isn't a great deal of difference between the two when it comes to multi-platform games (e.g. Call of Duty)0 -
I went for a PS3 only because it comes with a bluray player (saves me having to get an xbox + a bluray player). But thats only worthwhile if you have a HD TV.0

also depends on how much you are willing to spend the ps3's are still more expensive, however they do have blu ray capabilities built in which can be a bonus if you like movies as you then dont have to buy a seperate blu ray playerDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
As davebatt said, find out what his friends have. A lot of games are available for both consoles and he'd probably prefer to be able to play his friends online0

Hi,
I've got both a PS3 and an X-box. The game quality and choice is about the same on both consoles. The PS3 does play blu-ray discs and also the on-line gaming is free, whereas with Xbox you have to pay an annual subscription of around £35. So for me the PS3 edges it, but like others have said if most of his mates have x-boxes then that could be the clincher.0 -
With Kinect coming out I would opt for a 360. I have a 360 and a PS3 and all I use my PS3 for is watching movies. The Xbox is used for gaming.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

i agree with others . he will want the one his mates have , so he can play them online .
if its the Xbox ,get the new Xbox that has wireless built in . might be excellent time to get him a Console bundle like this one , because you KNOW he is going to want Call of Duty Black Ops for it .

given that console on it's own is £200 , your getting black ops for £30 . people are going to be fighting to get that game for less than £30 on Tuesday morning .
you can get cheaper basic no frills models but it's a false economy as you need to add , controllers , Hard drives and wireless dongles to them . better to get a proper everything included package IMO .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
PS3 of course - the BluRay really is a big bonus, move is amazing (forget Kinect unless you have a huge lounge and want to play really laggy games by flapping your arms around
I owned a 360 for 3 years before it died so I made the switch.
Mind you, I program games for Sony Computer Entertainment so I may be a tad biased0 -
