Happy NewYear all. Just a note to give hope to all those applying. Just heard back to say am 'in', despite auto-response suggesting otherwise. Strange system.... but worth sticking with it all.
Probably worth trying at least once more, MadCowMan, when UK appears on website!0 -
Well done Emu! I'm just waiting for my introduction so I can do the first 30 questions.
Definitely worth trying again, I passed second time“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

Well done, Tiff. Do you mind me asking what you are doing about the self-employed status aspect of this work? Does anyone know whether this means registering and then filling in tax forms or, whether, as the pay is unlikely to reach taxable level, this does not count? I am a student and I work if and when so I do not pay tax at present.0 -
You have to register self employed within three months, or you face a fine. Then you keep tabs on your earnings to fill in an assessment each year. If you're going to be earning below the threshold (4 grand something) then you won't have to pay tax on it, and if you're going to earn less than about 4 grand from it then you can fill in a form so that you don't have to pay National Insurance on it either. All the info you need's on the inland revenue website, and there's a form there too, though it was much quicker doing it over the phone. (number's on there too)
Good luck to all those applying: I worked for AQA up until a few months ago when my day job started to take over my life too much and i couldn't put in the time... it was strangely compelling logging in to watch the 30pences ticking up and the monthly quids into the bank account were much appreciated!
