Hi
You must be mistaken! Everybody knows they only last 8 years maximum:D so says roddydogs.
Maybe there should be more posts like fluffymuffy's to balance the 'discussion'

if you fit a quality boiler , flush the system and fit a filter (magnaclean) then i would hope that a new boiler would last 15 years . but normally they do not get flushed correctly ,X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.

Sorry didnt notice
but were condensing boilers available in 1997?
Archie Kidd was supplying them back in 1982, I do believe they were the first condensing boilers available, obviously a bit big for the average size house but the very beginings of what we see today:T
They arent the best looking things though or the quietest so would be best in a dedicated plant room not in the kitchen.
And many are going longer than any of these modern boilers ever will, our company has fitted quite a few of them and looked after properly will go on and on, plus there are no technical electric bits or sensors to go wrong!!

to be honest most of the time when people do change boilers that are 5/10 years old it is because they are sick of them breaking down ...
the boiler could of still gone on the last 15 years
i once changed a boiler that was one year old ......X British Gas engineer and X BG sales adviser.
