You can buy pineberry plants from w w w . idealworld .uk for £14.99. My mum bought a couple and gave me one of them back in May.

It grows just like a strawberry, and I have got two runners in a matter of a few weeks, so you could probably get away with just buying one if you can be patient, as they are on the expensive side.

I cannot wait to try the fruit, I have been blogging about its progress. The latest article is at w w w. gardensmallholding. co. uk and contains information and pictures.

    £15! plus £5 p@p! for one plant! You`re having a geoff

that £20 would buy 80 strawb plants from some of the deals we get on here from time to time.

As it is basically a strawberry [and apparently not a very tasty one either] you presumably could buy some from Waitrose, squish one up and sow the seeds

May take a while to produce fruiting plants, maybe for 2012?

Weekend's food editor, Bob Granleese, never one to hold back, was not a fan: "It smells like a strawberry." Bite. "It tastes like ... water." Pause. "With sweetener in it." Pause. "It's disgusting." I went next, immediately pulling a lemon sucking face at the sharpness of the albino fruit which I can only describe as "nippy". Jay Rayner was similarly unimpressed: "Basically, it's an unripe strawberry. Just because it can be sold doesn't mean it should". And devoted food lover Rachel Dixon was quite taken aback: "What the hell? It's a raspberry. No. Strawberry." Nibble. "Um." Pause. Grimace. "Whoa". Pause. "So it's some kind of freakish strawberry that doesn't taste very nice."

I had sme earlier this year, and they do SMELL lovely. Really superior to strawbs. Like strawb essence.....to smell. Sadly, they have to be eaten to, not just sniffed while you eat strawberies.

I presumed the ones I had were overripe, they were sweet, with a sour note, but they were also an unpleasant soft texture, that as like frozen strawberry defrosted.
