Hi guys,
I don't know if anyone remembers my posting about losing my childrens pictures?? Another MSE member suggested I give Duncan at Retrodata a call and I am DELIGHTED to say that they have been able to retrieve around 80% of my pictures for a very reasonable fee.
These pictures are so precious to me and I have learned a very valuable lesson....back up...back up!
Duncan from Retrodata did a fantastic job and I cannot thank him enough. He kept in touch with me throughout the whole process, keeping me up to date with how the recovery was progressing.
I would highly recommend Retrodata - they retrieved my most precious data and for that, I will be forever grateful!

ps... I deleted my previous posts as I felt uncomfortable as unfortunately I received an unappropriate private message asking about the contents of my pictures....(I do know now however, that this poster was in the minority), but just wanted to come back to the forums with the outcome.

Thanks for your replies guys!
I did also receive a couple of very kind private messages offering data recovery services free of charge at home, but my data was so precious to me, I had to use a company I felt I confident with.
I had to give my HDD the best chance of recovery, and am delighted I chose the company I did!
I cannot tell you how happy I felt when I received the discs and saw my kiddies birthday parties....photographs I never thought I would ever see again! So so happy! :j:j:j0 -
Remember to back up, back and back up your precious memories it might be an idea to load the photos on line or at least get them sorted out and printed as an album as years ago you would have something called a negative as a back up ;o))))0

If you put too much FAWNING praise for A COMPANY on this WEBSITE, it sometimes gets REPORTED as spam, especially when you mix CAPITALS in there.
Why did you ignore all the free advice on your previous thread.!!

What's spam? I only highlighted the word 'delighted' because that's what I am! Oh and MSE because it's abrieviated!
I ignored all the free advice re freezing etc because I couldn't take the risk with my childrens pictures.
I am just genuinly delighted that Retrodata managed to retrieve 80% of my pictures and just thought I'd share my happy ending with others.0 -
What kind of price did they charge?..................................................................0

£470 including VAT.
Some might think I should have gone down the free route....but in 20 years time, £470 will be neither here nor there in comparison to having my precious pictures of my children.
I had to give it my best shot....too important to me not to.0 -
That's great news - a relief, I'm sure!
Can I ask what you asked to be recovered (e.g. was it a full 4GB USB drive, or an 80GB hard drive with 10GB of photos, etc.)?
As someone who is often asked to fix friend's computers it would be great to have a rough idea in case I ever need to use their sevices...0 -
