something to do with credit cards most likely :S0

I Believe this is santander. They sent me a letter informing that I may see 2 direct debits set up for a short time but not to worry as they will only take 1. I have 2 Asda cards through Santander and both accounts for my 2 bank accounts have this new direct debit today.0

anyone figured out what this is, ive just noticed it too.
why couldnt they of gave it a better identifier though0 -
I think I can see what has happened here. As well as changing the DD instruction which they notified about that have sneakily changed the sort code and bank account to which payments need to be made.
If like us you have the old details stored in your internet bank then it appears Santander are not showing receipt of the Asda account money paid and thus have implemented the DD to take the Minimum payment.
Very unhappy esp as it almost took us overdrawn!!!0 -
I have a number of issues with Santander and have stopped using my card as a result. They seem to be highly disorganised and one branch does not know what another is doing. This seems to result in a lot of confusion on a number of issues. There is another post running today where Santander have charged people for late payment, when in fact they have not taken the direct debits which were set up!
My advice would be to cancel the Santander Card and find a bank who know what they're doing!0 -
Thanks for that ive just checked the back of the statment and all the payment details have changed, but they never mentioned that anywhere.
Defo check these details before paying your next statement.0 -
I have had a payment taken today for this DD. Was really worried as did not know what it was for so I have cancelled the DD and I am going to phone the bank tomorrow.
After reading the thread here I think it is probably my Santander (Asda) card but cannot believe that they did not tell us about the change of name.0 -
We have cancelled the direct debit too as this will stop any further payments being taken. We also asked Santander to stop there end which they agreed to do. Worth complaining if you have been caught. They did apply a small credit to the account for the inconvenience that has been caused so I think this is admission to them doing something slightly underhand.0

Thanks for the info, I've just noticed this DD set up on my Lloyds Acc, I have a Debenhams card so it's probably for that as I can't now see a Debenhams DD on the acc. There's no balance on the my card so nothing has been taken.Piglet

I have not set up any such direct debit. Is it fraudulent? I notice the last entry in this forum regarding this was in December 2010. Has anyone had similar situation more recently? is it definitely Santander or Debenhams? thanks
