Category B Interim maintenance assessment (IMAB)

Options
Hi I have posted previously on here, today I had (some) good news from the CSA. The NRP lied about Income and said he was living with his girlfriend but that they were estranged (which is a lie she is 5 months pregnant with his 2nd child) anyway he has now admitted he lied to the CSA after evidence was submitted, he wont give details of his girlfriends income (which I have no problems with, thats their business) but he has now had a IMAB slapped on him which I dont know much about.

Does anybody on here know what effects this has on an assessment??

Thanks in advance.

It means he gets no discount which he might have otherwise been entitled to. Have you applied for a variation on the grounds that the partner can contribute towards their housing costs?
  • Thanks Kelloggs, I asked about a variation/departure today and i was told i wasnt allowed one as he has been given all housing costs as there is a child in the house is this right??

That would appear correct as they did try an Cat A on me but was declined as there was a child in my household.
  • Thanks CSA_HELP. I was asking as NRP has always had an IMAB on previous assessments and this time his wage isnt much different from the others but the amount they have come up with this time is buttons compared to the previous im just wondering if they have made mistakes with the past years assessments its got me confused thats all
  • Sorry Csa_Help but what is the difference between a Cat A and Cat B? Thanks

To be honest i'm not sure but a cat a is quite severe and a cat b is 1 1/2 times the noteable assesment because the NRPP wont give details of their income.
  • So can I ask for a departure with a CAT B in place, will it be accepted on the grounds that the housing costs are shared between NRP and NRPP even with a child in the household?? The NRP claims hes only on £36.22 a week yes you read right and their housing costs are £190 a week so whos paying the mortgage?? It doesnt add up????

I have had cat b assessments as my wife refuses to give them her details. So reason why it shouldn't be cat b.

No this is not correct - they cannot cap the housing costs under the normal formula, but they can apply a variation on the grounds that the partner can contribute towards the costs if they are working.

Kelloggs so can I ask for a variation then? If so, I will phone back this silly woman who is dealing with my case and tell her I just want to be armed with the correct info 1st. Thanks
