Hi
Got Talk Talk to connect up a phone line last week and broadband, all fine until I checked the speed, 787 up 2050 down approx, they promised up to 4.5 mbit, when i called i was told the were still tweaking the line which may take 14 days? sounds a bit suspect... Anyone been told the same, i still have 14 days to cancel.
thanks

No isp can promise a fixed speed when using broadband max, Also there is a 10 day training period for the new broadband.0 -

I am in no way saying that TalkTalk have the best customer service, and the story from "ThisIsMoney" is a prime example of where things have gone wrong.
However, you only need to search for "ISP problems" and you will find similar stories for most if not all their competitors too.
The TalkTalk member's forum is a good place to visit to get problems resolved - Re. Any TalkTalk issues. (Much better than their telephone support lines)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

+1 from me too, any time Ive had a problem with talk talk broadband (only twice in 3 years) The online support has helped me no end. (First was a speed jump from 2Meg, to 6, then more recently to 9Meg (when I test the line on the talk talk site the system says I am only able to get 5.6MAX......) So the guys on the site have managed to boost my speed when I thought it was impossible.
Nuff said.
Only think you may find is they can take 24-48 hrs to answer your post on the forum.... BUT its worth it to get talking to someone who can actually do something to your line themselves, and not someone in a call cantre reading off a script.... nightmare.

Hi folks
Many thanks for the replies, today the router they sent me packed in, it just re-boots constantly, I've noticed the speed has also dropped to 700 / 800 which is crap, I setup a new router which I had and it works but still same slow speed as expected.
I'm not even bothering to call them we're going to cancel the broadband, funny thing is they haven't been paid for anything yet and they don't have our bank details or card numbers.
God I miss my 20mb Virgin connection

Did they actually promise 4.5k? I've never known an internet company to set anything like that in stone. Normally its "up to", never "at least"0

Hi
They did say up to 4.5 to be honest but a neighbour has 8mb so even if it was 4.5 I'd be happy.
More developments after an hour on the phone with Talk Talk they are replacing the original router, i can still see what line speed i'm getting on the d-link but the internet light goes green for 30 secs then red, but my speed had dropped to:
Line Rate - Upstream (Kbps):902
Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps):757
Both routers run at this speed
That's even with it plugged into to the master socket behind the faceplate, now they tell me 1mb is all I can get even though it was 2mb yesterday when it was not plugged into the master socket.
I cant fault Talk Talk engineer who was very helpful so I cant complain about that.
I believe somethings happened to the line overnight? Is it pure coincidence that the router packed in at the same time???
Bloody gremlins0
