Booking Vegas hotel with Alpharooms/travelrepublic/lowcostholidays, etc

Alpharooms have emailed me back when i called them (as they dont answer emails!) This is the reply:
Further to our conversation earlier this afternoon, I can confirm that your will not have to pay the resort tax. Please refer to your voucher as on their it states:
"Reservation and payment for room and tax only by American Tours Int who act as principal on the booking, who act as principal on this booking. Supplier reference: 3991211"
The resort will be aware of this. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.
So there saying that i wont have to pay the resort fee..... I wonder if i will be opening the thread again in June ? (see where i highlighted in Bold..)
It's a resort FEE not a resort TAX. The tax they are referring to is the 12% room tax. They have not acknowledged the resort fee which is something different altogether. I think you may have to pay it.
The Excal regularly has rooms for $24, but it is far too early for offers for June. They should be out between January and March.
Booking direct at $24 and say $70 for the weekend would total £225 including tax and resort fees.
Have you tried calling the hotel to ask if you will have to pay a resort fee if you have booked through a third party. Seems a simpler solution than trying, and failing, to get an answer on here seeing as most of the regulars book direct with the hotel and not through a third party.0 -
I always book my Vegas hotel through the actual hotel itself, get my promo code through www.smartervegas.com always works out cheaper for me, plus all you pay upfront is the deposit (one nights stay) and most of the time this is fully refundable if you wish to cancel up until 72hrs prior. Smartervegas ALWAYS advise if it is fully refundable!0

Just thought i'd say that i emailed the Hotel direct that i was thinking of booking asking about this and they said NO Resort Fee to pay only taxes which is 12.5% a night - think that's pretty standard where's this 'Resort' Fee lark is not.0 -
Book with the hotels directly. Went to Vegas last June and stayed in 2 different hotels and this is what we did.
Sign up to the hotel's newsletters, as I got sent 25% off room rates. Even if you book it through them directly and you notice the price goes down in 2 weeks time, email them and they will change the price to the lower for you. It's actually quite good. When you book with the credit card all you're doing is holding the room and nothing is paid for until you check out, so if you see a better deal direct with the hotel let them know. Even if you see a better deal on another website, some hotels are more than happy to price match!have fun! love Vegas

Almost all hotels take the cost of the first night as a deposit. However it is usually refundable 48-72 hours before arrival.0 -

Paid when booked. Stayed there 3 weeks later with no issues. Nothing to pay on check out.
Wynn didn't start charging a resort fee until this summer.
I agree with Luci - the wording on that email refers to 'resort tax'...may just be a typo. May be that the representative responding did not understand the question...I think that calling the hotel and asking them makes the most sense.
As for the rate, summer is low season in Vegas in general and rates can be very good as has been said...though if you are happy with what you've paid then that's great. I suspect that cancellation would incur penalties (which you wouldn't have if booked direct) and payment in full will be required in advance (which wouldn't be the case booking direct - but some would prefer to pre-pay anyway).Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
OP you have started a couple of threads with the same question and asked it in the Vegas thread.
You keep getting the same answers
The only people who can tell you for sure are the Excalibur
You will definitely be able to booik direct nearer the time with Excalibur and get a final price similar to what you have already paid0 -
The excalibur tell me that the fee's and rates applicable are down to my 3rd party agent...
My 3rd party booker (Alpharooms) tell me the rates are from there 3rd party booker (ATI = American Tours Int)
My question asked if anyone had stayed in that hotel booked via those agents, in relation to whether the fee was included in your rate, due to it not being advertised on the booking agents website.
So, the only people that can tell me the answer i am looking for, are people who have gone to that hotel via the booking agents above, as per post 1..... so therefore, i have not had an answer..
Maybe i should have said "anyone booked a hotel in vegas with these websites in the past" ?? rather than post my specific query ?
And to note, my issue is not with whether there is a resort fee to pay (happy to pay, etc, my issue is knowing in advance if i will be hit with the charge, where as opposed to booking direct or using Expedia/Ebookers, etc, they actually state the Resort Fee on there websites....... and Alpharooms/Travelrepublic dont, and they cant seem to get an answer either!)0 -
Where was your last hotel, was it one on the strip ? as hotels4u operate the same way as Alpharooms, etc so you might be able to help...
What hotel was u in ?0 -

Even if someone comes on here and says, I used Alpharooms and stayed at Excalibur and did/didnt have to pay extra resort fee, it still wont mean that your booking is the same.
But the Excalibur (as I suggested) have answered your query. They say "The excalibur tell me that the fee's and rates applicable are down to my 3rd party agent.".. in which case they wont be charging you any extra because they will get paid by that 3rd party and the 3rd party have told you everything is paid for0
