OP, you have 45 days after you paid to open a claim, after this you cannot raise a claim. However if you open a claim on day 40, it'll stay open till it's resolved...not end on day 45.

If something different happened, contact paypal and ask for an explanation...

I'm wondering if the OP opened a dispute but not a full chargeback? It makes no sense otherwise as you rightly say once opened the claim only closes with a refund or proof of delivery.

Even if it had arrived more than likely it would have been fake.

I think what he is saying is that he tried to sort it with the seller, and by the time the second phone was also not received it was too late to open an INR.

I appreciate that you are a world (cyber World that is) expert on everything, but how can you say that the item would be fake - most genuine phones are made in China, so why should an item from China be fake?

    Thanks all.

To clarify, I opened a dispute within 45 days. It has now been closed, to me wrongly. The closure message is "This dispute closed because it was open for more than 45 days after the transaction date or did not meet other criteria for opening a dispute." If it hadn't let me open a dispute, I wouldn't have this message. Therefore, a dispute does not always run until resolution.

I have contacted Paypal to find out what is going on. I guess Paypal doesn't work either the way it should or the way it used to.

'Phone from Far East' or 'phone from China' is a polite way of saying fake. Look at all those wholesale sites that we often get spammed by on here, 'look alike iphones' 'Nokea's', all fakes.

I would think the chances of getting a legit phone from China on ebay is pretty remote.

Because genuine items from china will come via the Manufacturer. Not via some dodgy chinese ebay seller.

N.B Do you always stalk people who disagree with you and send those silly PMs rather childish really:T

I think they have replaced all the dodgy MP3 players trying to pretend to be ipods. Some even used to have a slightly distorted apple logo on them.

If you go to a wholesale site you'll see these fake phones and MP3 players for a few dollars each, yet people still get fooled by the idea of a bargain on ebay.
