New Flat, New Customer

I have just got myself a new flat (move in on the 20th...very excited :j)

I have never been a customer of Sky or Virgin or anyone before (always been someone else's name on the bill!)

I am looking to get a good tv and broadband deal (i dont care about the pone deal as i would never use it) i am particularly keen on getting Sky sports and being able to record programmes.

What do people recommend doing? as a new customer am i going to have any clout with sky or VM when it comes to negotiating?

Are there any methods i could use when it comes to ringing them up as a new customer?

Any help would me much appreciated

Be weary of Sky in a flat.

We signed up to Sky+HD and can only watch or tape a channel.

Sky+ advertises that you can tape a channel and watch another, but you can't do this in a flat. So if you tape on Sky, you'll have to watch another channel on freeview.

We signed up for this and multi-room and wasn't told we couldn't get all the services, as with a flat you cannot get multi-room either.

To get the full Sky+ services you need to have 2 cables coming into the flat for the double signal. We actually had a better service on freeview (being able to tape 2 shows and watch 1), whereas now when we tape on Sky we have to watch the other show on freeview - pointless really.
  • Thats strange...

I was in a flat before and we had sky+ installed and it worked perfectly.

We also had an extra cable coming from the dish to my flatmates bedroom so he could watch sky in his room. He had to watch the same channel as what was on in the living room but it all worked perfectly well.

I spoke to sky and the best deal they could get me was wayy to expensive.

The TV package is fine but i have to pay in excess of £25 a month for broadband = Nightmare!!

Must've been a newer build where they installed twin coax feeds from the splitter.
As to your flatmate, the cable doesn't come from the dish,it comes from RF2 output on the back of the Sky box.
