Pending paypal payment?

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can advise.

I've received 12 paypal payments this weekend for books I've sold on Ebay(woohoo!)

11 of these are showing as completed in Paypal and paid for in Ebay.

1 of these is showing as completed in Paypal, but pending payment in Ebay.

I've had plenty of problems with payments showing as pending to sellers who haven't upgraded their personal accounts (so many that I have a standard "did you know that you need a premier account to receive..... message standing by.)

However, I haven't come across a paypal payment INTO my Ebay account showing as pending before, especially when it shows as completed in Paypal.

Has anyone come across this before, and is it safe to simply mark Ebay as paid and send out the book?

Thanks,

Stig.

Not sure about that one stig.

Could it be they have paid by Echeque? I know they take alot longer to clear into your paypal account...
  • I had one of these and thought it was an echeque so I waited... and waited.... After 6 days I checked my Paypal account and it was down as being paid (6 days previously) so I contacted the buyer and said had she had any problems with Paypal as this was showing to me as a pending payment. She was most confused, as she had paid and had her receipt from Paypal and had been waiting for her item. So I assumed it was just a paypal glitch and sent her the item, and marked it in my ebay summary as paid.

I never received a receipt from paypal for the payment, so maybe there was some glitch there which meant it was never marked as paid in Ebay.

I'd say check with the buyer that all has gone okay their end, and if paypal is showing the amount as paid then send the item.
  • Sound like an eCheque ,they seem to take ages to clear least a week but quicker than a written cheque I guess as you're not waiting for it to arrive by post & then the faf of going to the bank to pay it in, Just a gentle reminder, don't accidentally post anything until it does clear though even though it's showing in your payoal account.

I've sold a couple of books on eBay to students who've paid with eCheque as they haven't got switch accounts. If you don't fancy accepting them next time, I'd pop in your listing paypal only but not echeques please.

It's just a Glitch...Its happened to me a few times lately...all you have to do is check paypal account to see if the funds are there...if so then you're ok to send goods :)

I have that I don't accept e cheques on all my listings!...yet still people pay with them lol...and to be honest..if you accept paypal as a payment method the terms say that it includes e cheques and you are obliged to accept them as a form of payment!...I just don't like it when paypal inforce their "Get paid instantly" policy...when this is not so!

I think that if you dont have the funds actually in your paypal account when you pay for an item it is marked as pending as paypaltake a few days to get the money from your card.
Actually, is this an echeque? **lightbulb goes on**

A lot of people (including me!) dont know what an echeque is so they may have paid with one without realising!

I have something similar. Sold an item on ebay last night which is showing as pending, but paypal payment is sitting happily in my paypal account and definitely *not* an echeque.

It looks like paypal and ebay are not communicating to each other.

I'll be shipping my item today but will make sure I check my paypal acocunt for future sales in case I miss a payment.

    Soo

Just been paid with an e-cheque (several hundred pounds) - whilst I don't have a particular issue with them, I DO have an issue with PayPal putting in their e-mail that the e-cheque will clear in 4 days; that is NOT accurate. When you look on the PayPal website about e-cheques, it says the following:

If you use a US bank account, it can take up to four working days for the electronic funds transfer to complete and for the funds to become available to the recipient of your payment.

If you use a Canadian bank account, it can take up to eight working days for the electronic funds transfer to complete and for the funds to become available to the recipient of your payment.

If you use a UK bank account, it can take up to nine working days for the electronic funds transfer to complete and for the funds to become available to the recipient of your payment.

If you use an Australian bank account, it can take up to three working days for the electronic funds transfer to complete and for the funds to become available to the recipient of your payment.

So basically, PayPal lie in their confirmation e-mail!
