arent the e73 error and the rrod both different problems,
Yes, but they will repair the RRD and all the E series error codes. There are loads of E codes, some of the most common being E73, E74, E79.
I've had microsoft repair/replace all three.
To the OP, get in touch with MS pronto. Google the E codes and their de-codes if you want a clue as to what your error is.

Congratulations, and i hope you never do!!!! I've had an E74 repaired/replaced, and one that reported E73, E74, or E79, depending what mood it was in!!!!! They are a right pain in the backside arent they?
The current one is going to be a year old this December, (sons Christmas present) its probably lasted longer than any of his others, although to be fair hes been outdoors on his bmx most of the year, so its probably not had as much usage as the others..

I know this is an oldish thread but the E74/RROD error is fairly easy to fix - I have fixed my own and a few for my friends and they are still working

I would have thought it reasonable for an Xbox to last for more-or-less the maximum 6 years under which the SoGA might offer some protection. I can't think of many (any?!) electrical items I've owned that have failed within this time without being subjected to some serious abuse.
So if the fault is a known issue, then aren't the retailer liable for damage (which I guess would be a proportion of the repair fee based upon how much use you've had out of the Xbox)? If it's 3 years old, maybe you'd be able to claim 50% of the repair fee in damages... Is that how the SoGA would apply?
In any case, I'd definitely be speaking to Trading Standards.0
