i've had a letter from eon suggesting i change my tariff and come off economy 7 as i'm a low user of that price range.
We have electric only in the flat and don't use appliances overnight - only occasional heating when its really cold in the bedroom and the hot water boiler thingi is constantly on (no timer)
Any thoughts on whether this will actually be cheaper?
Was gonna start shopping around for a new provider anyway - see what other places can offer.

Just compare the tariffs.
The daytime rate for economy 7 is usually a fair bit higher than the normal rate on a standard tariff.
So, if as you say, you do not use much energy over night, then Eon are doing you a favour suggesting that you should not be on Economy 7This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
If you use less than 35% of total electric used in the night time read it is not worth being charged day and night rate, with eon you'd be better off if on a paper bill on track and save 7, if do online billing and pay by dd then better off on save online 4, both tariffs ask for the unrestricted rate, rather than the e7 version of the tariffs0

Hiya glittermonster,
I would contact E.ON and ask for your figures and how much energy you actually use over night.
It sounds like you don't use enough electricity on the night rate to have economy 7 prices, if this is definitely the case you would be better off on a one rate tariff (unrestricted).
E.ON don't normally need to change your meter to be able to bill you on a one rate tariff, if you have an economy 7 meter.
Also ask for your usage in kWh and you can use this when comparing suppliers/tariffs.
If you need any more info, just let me know.

Hi
Do you mean SaveOnline electricity 4?
Now to work out if that's cheaper than other suppliers!0
