My sister and brother continue to text me to let me know how Mam is doing - last couple of days, she has eaten quite well, infact been eager to eat as if she is getting her appetite back. My brother was there at lunch time and Mam ate over half of her lunch but was then sleepy, so he let her rest
Bad news is that my sister took her grand-daughters (Mam's Great GrantDaughters Holly and Grace) down to see her, and while my sister was signing in, the girls ran ahead to Mam's room. As my sister walked down after them, they came running back shouting 'quick quick get a nurse, GreatGranma is shouting for help, get a doctor for her' and when she got to the room, Mam was lying flat in bed, shouting 'help me, please help me'. My sister raised the head of the bed up to her normal position, but Mam was upset for quite a while afterwards. She took a while to recover but was cheered up with Holly and Grace dancing for her, and then ate her dinner, and had a caramel dessert my sister has brought down for her, and then had a cup of tea via spoon, with a dunked biscuit. She was a lot more settled and happy when sister and the girls left
My sister told the carers/nurse how she had been when she had arrived, and one of them said 'oh, yes, she was doing that earlier too' My sister said that she should never be left flat on the bed due to her asthma and risk of choking/aspiration, and they said 'oh we didn't know that, it will have been from when she was changed earlier' My sister told them that she must have the top of the bed raised so she is almost sitting up, as she has always slept like that, and could choke, but she believes that this is one more thing that will be forgotten about in time. There are still some of her nighties missing, some for over 4 weeks, so my sister is going down for a longer time tomorrow to sit with Mam, and make another effort to track these down too :mad:Mr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Oh Susan i am so sorry. This is really worrying news for you. Can you send a letter about the positioning of your mother on the bed to the head of the carehome? This is something that is common sense. Even i know it.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

3Dogs, pleased to hear Mam is eating more, but how bad of the nursing home with her care! Surely it is on her notes that she should have the head of the bed raised and about her asthma etc, Let's hope sis gets it sorted and the missing nighties too!0
