Beanie & Tixy - for me, I think it is the money side of things - not having the money to do things and buy things is one thing or is that 2 things? but the main thing is how it is all centred around money and not the message of Christmas

The amount of food, presents and other bits that people buy amazes me not you of course Steve hehe as you bargain hunt and budget but the pressure is on everyone to spend spend spend buy buy buy

Even without the Christian message of the Birth of Christ, the time should still be a time of family and togetherness, and a fun time too of course, but without the excesses rant rant rant

If you go to BHS they are giving away meal vouchers with their receipts 20% off. It will save a fortune if you are used to eating out. Although taking sandwiches is even better. I am going to do that now.

yes, but for a treat, it is nice to have 20% off your meal. :T

I got some vouchers when I purchased a tie for DH, not had a chance to look at them properly but am sure there was a free fish and chips dinner.

Nah you're not ranting. I'm watching the nativity on one at 7 and although I know the story it brings home just how different Christmas is anyway.

For me as I'm not religious Christmas is about family, the girls and having fun. Santa comes and it's about seeing their faces. I loved Christmas as a little one and still the childishness comes over me me now (can you tell!! haha) It's about making memories. I have really good memories of my dad at Christmas and lost him at 10 year old so.. that's it.. making memories.

I can't get credit and have managed to do Christmas and stay in the black. It is, it's all about planning and not over indulging (ahem she puts the chocolate tin down!) Shopping for us tomorrow will consist of a few goodies, christmas lunch veg and a normal weekly shop, kind of.. with mince pies, baileys, ok ok ok. I'm talking trollop :p

Night night all. I'm shattered. Eyes hurt.

    love to you all xx

    well said 3Dogs!

This is why I don't like Christmas, I only celebrate for DH and now DS.

I told DH, he only cares about how many presents he has to open under tree, not the real meaning of Christmas. He said he doesn't believe in God, I said fair enough, but it is supposed to be about being with family, not how many presents you get, and what with his birthday being in December, his niece too, and his nephew's girlfriend, parents in law's anniversary and then xmas presents! it is a very expensive month for me!

He was moaning yesterday when I said I have only bought him 1 present and that is all he is getting this year. I kept telling him I had no money but he wouldn't listen or believe me, his parent's 50th wedding anniversary wiped out any extra money I had! I had to send stuff special delivery  which cost a lot, and I still have more stuff to send them!

I wish he would listen to me, I work part time, I get paid by the hour, so if I don't work hours, I don't get paid. I do MS, Avon and surveys on the side and other bits and bobs, to make extra money.

I said to him, do you get food every night on your dinner plate? Well at least you are getting that!

Ah Aureol, sorry about DH's attitude - but if you ain't got it, you can't buy it - you know that as well as anyone here. You seem to do very well MSE wise hun and all your efforts mean that you can just manage - Mr 3Dogs and I have never really bought each other presents at Christmas ..... hang on, no we have NEVER bought each other presents at Christmas. After all, if you want something, and can afford it, you can treat yourself anytime. We have always in the past bought well for the family but now we can only concentrate of the bairns as Christmas is a time for the young and for families. If we had more spare money, we would still but for other family members, but, as it is, we get them something very little, just a token present

Don't get me wrong folks, I think that, as long as you can afford it, giving presents is a wonderful thing - it shows you care ....

Must admit I used to go in there regularly, but not now that the 99p Store opened in what was the Woolwor£hs store - 1p is 1p after all :o

my 99p store sells stuff for less than 99p, sometimes you get stuff for 42p etc. I quite like our new 99p store, but our Poundland is quite good too. The best thing to do is browse between both and compare prices.

I do like L!dl too when they have their offers on.
