ARGHHHH Scottish Power
DD bounced this month (first time ever, husbands work paid the whole company 2 days late)
I phoned up the next day and asked to pay with my debit card, they said they would have to phone me back as they had already set up to take the money again on the 29th. The customer service rep called back and said 'yes that is fine, we have cancelled the DD for this month', so I paid the £131 with my card.
And of course come the 29th they took another £131 from my bank via the 'cancelled DD'
I have just spotted it and called them. But apparently they can't do anything until I send them a copy of my bank statement?! As they can't see what payments have been made on their computers???
If I can log on to my account and see what payments I have made HOW is it possible that they can't see what payments have been made? Why the hell do I need to send them my bank statement. The woman on the phone was like a bloody robot, you need to send in your statement, you need to send in your statement, you need to send in your statement.
I don't want to send my bloody bank statement to some random person at scottish power thanks very much, why should I, its not my mistake!
Any ideas where I can go from here?

Use the DD guarantee and get your bank to bounce the extra payment (or use it as credit for next months bill)0

Can the bank bounce the payment even though it has gone through? I needed that money for my rent payment which is why I phoned and told them not to take it on the 29th. I think I will try the bank now.0

Yes, the bank can indeed 'recall' the DD payment. Tell them that the amount was different from that agreed with Scottish Power, and so your bank is obliged to get the money back for you under the direct debit guarantee.0

Do you mean by logging into your scottish power account or bank account? Just curious as I made a payment in Sept 2010 and they couldn`t see it in Oct 2010.I have just spotted it and called them. Hi sherby
Sorry to hear about your situation. If we have taken a payment it will be showing on your account, not sure why you would be told we could not see it unless it was taken that day and it was still being processed through the system.
If we have taken a Direct Debit when you have been told that it would not, you can ask your bank to raise an indemnity claim so that they return the Direct Debit amount direct into your bank. This will be the quickest way to return the £131.00 to you. We can then simply create the Direct Debit again for next months installment.
Please let me know if you have any further questions and I'll be more than happy to help.
Kind Regards
