Does ebay notify buyers that an item is dispatched?

Mark your item as despatched in My eBay. Do this, and we'll let your buyer know the item is on its way.

We use selling manager pro, and that allows you can control the messages that are sent out. You get it free with a featured shop, otherwise it is £4.99 a month.

Thanks BigRedAnt, the account is a Business account but have only just started selling so haven't signed up to selling manager pro. I also read that selling manager pro emails are being scrapped in May - http://sellerupdate.ebay.co.uk/may2011/email-changes.html

I'm happy to send my own 'despatched' emails but I don't want to duplicate them with ebay messages and potentially annoy the buyers with lots of emails!

I buy quite a lot on ebay and from smaller sellers rarely get any emails at all, the stuff just turns up in a week or so.

True, but as we have just started out selling we are trying to get top DSR's in the month or so before the changes kick in! I think I might do a little test sale that I mark as despatched on my personal account to get the definitive answer!
