Ah, it's an excess charge notice, and the only recourse is through the magistrates' court, because parking has not been decriminalised. I'd say the best thing to do is to write a letter, and see if you can appeal to their better nature. Otherwise, this is one to pay, I'm afraid.0

Sounds about right, parking wardens waiting to the minute to slap that lovely sticker on your car and think 'Bingo, my commission'0

Thanks for looking it to it anyway, it was worth a shot.
Like I said, I know I overstayed my paid for time, it was just annoying that helping out the little'un has cost me so dearly. Especially as the Mum didn't seem to bat an eyelid that her little girl had wandered of so far.**This space is available to rent**0 -

Sadly, there are a lot of parents like that these days.
I often see parents swearing at there very young children soon as they ply up for a toy.
I mean, one time I hear a mother say to her son, 'if you don't shut the f*** up I slap you across your face when we get outside'.
Not for this part of the forum this debate, but on a final note I think some people should not be parents!0 -
You could look at it as £35 well spent.
I mean, consider how you would be feeling now if you had left her there.
If you've got proof of what you did then I'd still suggest appealing and, maybe, taking it to the local press.0 -

But the parking warden put the ticket on 17 minutes after it expired, which is about a third longer than the ticket allowed. How long should a warden wait before it's acceptable to put a ticket on the car?
I think if it had literally been a minute then it would have been a little too much, but 17 minutes is very clearly over the time limit.
I do think its good that the OP helped out though. To be honest as a young man if I was on my own I wouldn't dream of approaching a lost child but clearly I worry a little more than the OP.0 -
I know I was a large percentage out of my time, and my rant isn't about that, it's more that the irresponsibility of the Mother of the little girl has left me out of pocket. If she was out looking for her daughter, it would be easier to bear, but she was on the phone to a mate chatting about the things she'd just bought etc, and hadn't even noticed her little one was missing. What kind of Mum doesn't even look at her child in 15-20 minutes while eating out?But the parking warden put the ticket on 17 minutes after it expired, which is about a third longer than the ticket allowed. I think it's a Mum thing:), I couldn't walk past her without stopping. Though next time, if I know I have little time left on my ticket, I will probably take her into the nearest shop and let the staff there look after her (no, I wouldn't, I'd still do it again for a lost child, as I would hope someone would do the same if my DD ever wandered away!)I do think its good that the OP helped out though. Not sure how I could prove it, as if I got McD's cctv footage, without sound, they could argue that she may be a mate, and I am just meeting up to return the little'un after looking after her. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and pay it. Though, I was seriously impressed at my 5-year-old DD's thought......stick a big bogey on the paper when I hand it in! Has anyone got a cold so I can give them a nice gooey one:p**This space is available to rent**0 -
