Discuss the BA Amex credit cards

I understand your concerns... However I've only started to collect Avios in the last 10 months, and I've earned one companion voucher.
Luckily I've managed to use it for a flight to Tokyo in First and return from Seoul in CW. Dates were also very good for me, as it is just over Easter.
I know I've been quite lucky though, as redemption availability is usually quite poor in CW or First.0 -
I got my card but there doesn't seem to be any way to link them to a BA Executive Club account?0

You would have been asked for your BAEC number in the application.
If you already have an account you'll now need to call Amex to link them together.0 -

You should have been able to enter your BAEC account number during the application. If you didn't or don't have a BAEC account then Amex will have opened one on your behalf.
Call the customer service number (Amex) and ask them. If they have opened one on your behalf they will be able to give you the account number. Alternatively, if you already have an account why will be able to link your card to that one.0 -
Had the card for 3 years now and been on 2 first class return trips to the USA for 2 people (NYC/LHR 120k Avios and LAX/SFO to LHR for 150k avios). flights that should have cost £10,000 EACH, cost only £560pp!!!! for the two trips that's a saving of £38,000 (95%). Well worth the £150 a year.
I will say this though:
You need to earn avios from other places. I travel (a lot) with work, so the 120k avios for first class to NYC was simple, if you just use the card there isn't much point.
you have to have flexibility in where you want to go and when you want to fly. Availability is there but there are hundreds if not thousands of others who want the same seats.
If you want good deals try the BA Eurosaver fares. only £35 to get a flight to Russia/Greece on reward points! You can go as far as Turkey! Second tip and this is a really really sneaky one... use the miles with Air Lingus from Dublin for a weekend away in Boston. As Dublin to Boston is 2,997 miles (just under the 3k threshold) you can get there for only 25k avios and as its from Ireland (not UK) fees are only around £70. you need to add the eurosaver flight on BA from the UK to dublin for 9k avios and £35. But even so, this will get you 2 return tickets to Boston from London for £210 and 68k Avios for TWO PEOPLE!!! That is an unbeatable deal. This deal isn't ever shown on the BA site, you have to call them and ask for it!
Final tip ... NEVER NEVER NEVER use the avios and 2-4-1 on long haul economy flights on BA... NEVER! only use them for business and first PERIOD. One of the best uses is to book premium economy, then its only 50% avios to get into business. sometimes you will earn as many avios on the flight as it takes to upgrade! Using them on Business/First the cost savings from full fare are maximised.
If anyone wants other tips let me know! I know the system backwards from years of travel!0 -
I wish I could earn more than one companion voucher a year, i use it as soon as I get it to treat family. Got two first class tickets to Singapore on the last one and I already have plans to go to New York and India on the next couple that get issued.Make £10 a day challenge in Feb £325.82/£280
March £78/£3100 -
May I suggest getting one in your wifes name? Then you can earn two vouchers0

Hi, apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, but can someone tell me if it's possible to set up direct debits to come off the BA Amex card? If I could use it to pay my mortgage etc I would be able to spend enough to quality for the free companion flight which would make the card worth it, however I'd struggle to spend £10,000 without including those big expenses. And I'm in no way organised enough to cancel the db and pay manually each month!0

This will probably depend on your mortgage provider as much as the card, and is very very unlikely to be possible.0
