Would you pay £64 for extra 2 year warranty on £1300 laptop?

Thinking £64 for extra peace of mind for two years isn't too bad?

What do you guy's think?

Not bad at all - check what it covers -and see about adding to contents insurance, may not cost.
I personally can't see a need for such an expensive laptop - it will cause a lot of worry!

I think firms make most of their profits out of extended warranties and in any event the warranty will be riddled with exceptions. You are better off keeping your £64. Typically if something is to go wrong with a part it goes wrong early in hte life of a machine when you will be covered anyway.

No..i'd buy one from John Lewis and get two years warranty thrown in.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

It'll just lead to a world of trouble some time down the road when you've got lots of apps installed, got it set up just how you want it, generated lots of data, then -

Something goes wrong, you can't get access to your HDD, you take it back to the supplier, and in fixing it they restore it to factory settings, undoing all your hard work....

Rather depends what the warranty covers. If laptops are going to go wrong, they'll probably do it in the first year anyway. After that, the most common problem is accidental damage (dropping it, or snagging the power cord and breaking the charger pin), which won't be covered.
if you want AD cover, check what it would cost to add to your household contents insurance.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

If it's a manufacturer's warranty from someone like Dell, Toshiba, HP etc. then it sounds cheap for the peace of mind.

depending on what it covers it looks very good, considering price of your laptop.

At that price and cost versus potential bills over two years its a bet to nothing , well a bet to £64 .

  • If you can afford £1300 for a laptop, why are you asking if it's worth spending an extra £64 on it?

But be careful of '2 year extended warranties'. They can be misleading. It's often just a 1 year extension on your existing warranty. So you might be paying £64 for 1 extra year, not two.

And a general rule with these things is not to just check what limitations there are on the warranty but also check if what is covered is also covered by your house contents insurance. £64 or not, you don't want to be paying twice for the same thing.
  • It's an extension warranty from 1 to 3 years. Sony warranty. Think I'll go for it. Thanks.
