Wow .... its seriously impressive, Lula! Tho, to keep it impressive, maybe you could buy the shoes and the kettle and whatnot *after* you're debt free :rotfl::kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

you'll be glad that you didn't buy that toaster..they are rubbish..had one myself and it didn't last very long and didn't even toast nicely..certainly not worth the money I paid only lasted about 16 months0

At what point should I stop her admirable efforts & admit that I bought the tickets weeks ago & have had them since last week ? I want to give them to her on friday - but in an April Fools kind of way, been racking my brains for some clever way. Any ideas welcome.
All April Fools things make me think of all those builders jokes (tartan paint, bubble for a spirit level, tin of elbow grease etc) and so now I'm seeing if I can think of something like that.
Actually maybe you could do something around your DD's bedroom, I seem to recall reading that you were at a stand off regarding the tidiness of her bedroom???
Or maybe a fake competition for the tickets that you could have pretended to hear about which would somehow involve her in doing something silly....and once she realises what is going on you could give her the tickets?!
I don't know that my brain is firing on all cylinders right now.
Went to the training for the census this evening and am knackered plus it is my second day at my new job.....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

On form tonight Shoesy :rotfl: :T :rotfl:
Karma - it's a very pretty set but I dont need a 4 slot toaster as I rarely eat bread these days & sadly I really dont need any shoes either. I have plenty, in fact I have more than plenty
Taxi - thanks for your wise words, once i know someone has had a bad experience with an expensive product it usually puts me off.
Makeup - I'm a bit confused as to your census training ? I've already done mine & posted it back ... well, actually I let DD fill in most of it :shhh:
I'm actually a notorious cheapskate when it comes to most household appliances / products ( see ebay dining table purchase) but just really like the shape of those kettles. I actually like the more dome shaped ones eg : http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B00080KOVM/ref=dp_image_text_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=11052681&s=kitchen but not sure how easy they are to pick up with the top handle - am thinking ahead to all those cups of coffee in bed that I'll be getting
.
I forsee that the main problem with being DF is going to be having to choose items using a different criteria than the old failsafe ' it's the cheapest'
I could well end up not buying anything as I already agonise over choices & it's soooo time consuming.
Must head to bed now
G'night

Not training to do the census. I got that census collector job that was doing the rounds a while ago.
It starts next week and we are basically going door to door knocking on those people who haven't returned their census and chasing it all up.
Last night I had the training course to learn about completing the paperwork that gets sent out to us to and stuff like that.I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Aha,
I did think you knew how to complete the census, I misunderstood what your role was going to be - thought it was helping others to complete it , hence my querying your being trained after the event.
Work is giving me a headache at the momentcould be the new floor paint ... or just that everyone is being very irritating, Highly Annoying in particular.
He's reverted back to wandering around doing absolutely FA all day & then emailing me last thing before he leaves, telling me that he'll be out all the next day so can I please chase up all his work. When he says 'chase up' he means 'do' because he hasnt actually started anything to chase up
I'm missing Grumpy so much that I scoffed an entire bag of mini eggs today. Came home to discover that home-job driver had left me about 5 hours work, rather than the 2 she had told me to expect. I knew she'd get me back for not helping out on monday
.
I'm within sniffing distance of becoming DF & am so, so, so tempted to just quit tomorrow.
It's beyond tempting, it's positively tantalizing BUT ... I need to learn to live within a monthly income without any little weekly cash top ups so I have a shiny new plan :
- To live on monthly income only &
- SAVE home-job pay to build up a Buffer Fund
- Do this for the next 6 months until DD safely ensconced at new school
(& I have a chance to hustle a new salary from Gropey)
April is going to be challengingly tight on the financial pants front & to jack home-job in would possibly end up with me back in debt again
. I need to make sure I can stay 'clean' before removing my safety net.
As from next week, all the funds will be taken out of my salary & put into various accounts. I'll need to keep a record of each one, but I've managed with the savings account funds for car & utilities so cant see any reason not to manage another one.
Window cleaner finally turned up to collect his money & he duly gave me a £2 coin in change :T so that went straight into the slightly Sealed Pot - total now = £115.
Other than that a NSD.
There will be many more of those in the future, you will not believe just how frugal I'm going to be now that every penny I earn is mine :rotfl:.
G'night

Hi Taxi,
imagine just how good it would be if my wages had gone in to my account so that I could not only pay my rent, council tax & all the bills, but make the final payment to the CC too.
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
I had a sickening feeling this was going to happen again; yesterday at work Goblin remarked that she was surprised that she hadnt heard from payroll company to say all was fine. I reminded her twice to ring them & she said she'd do it later.
I checked my account at midning & there was nothing. Just checked again & still nothing, so they wont be going in today.
That is exactly what I'll be doing too; not going in. I cannot express just how angry I am. I want to wring her wrinkly velour covered neck.
I'll have to do some calculations & somehow get enough money in to my current account to cover everything that's due to go out, because at the moment, there's about £18 in there.
This is also the sort of inept & casual attitude to employees that ensures I keep plodding on with home-job.0 -
:mad: on your behalf! Salary being paid on time is simply a non-negotiable! I feel your pain - I would be in a real mess if my salary ever didn't go in on time as all my SO's for rent etc. go straight out!
Before your last psot I was just about to say how great it will feel when every penny you earn is for you! I wonder if it will change your mindset to spending? Personally I don't think my mindset has shifted totally - I now no longer spend more than I can afford but I still put what sonme people would consider luxuries before paying of debts - but at least I'm not increasing my debts!
Goof luck with sorting your salary out :mad:Sometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0
