Ahh thanks for the replies everyone

If they pick it up, then that's fair enough, I was worried we would have to pay a hefty postage fee or something and that they would keep it for a long period of time.

I hadn't realised this red ring was something so common or that it had been a problem for so long, pretty disgusting that MS haven't sorted it out, (this was the new generation xbox).

Googlewhacker I'l take your advice and let MS do it

To be fair to Microsoft at least they held their hands up, admitted there was a problem and resolved to make it right. I agree its a pain when the box dies and to be fair it really shouldn't, but at least the option is there to get it sorted for free.

Just jump on the microsoft xbox website and find the details about how to send your box off on there - when I sent mine off I think it was a case of printing off a UPS form to stick to the box (got mine from Asda) you put the xbox in, UPS collect from wherever you specify and after about 10 days you get a fixed xbox back from microsoft which may or may not last for years....

im surprised they didnt get it the fault sorted with the new xbox version but at least they admit to it and are willing to get it fixed at they're cost, ive had to send 2 off due to rrod and both have sent back within at least a week, oh bit of advice remove the hard drive before you send it off and do not include any accessories so its just the xbox you need to package up in another box

Yes, there is 3 years warranty on the Xbox. I sent my sons off because of the ring of death. UPS picked it up and delivered it back about 10 days later, you do get a reconditioned one back though.

OP, I would continue to take it up with Tesco too. You will just get a reconditioned one back from microsoft and if it's only a couple of months old then I think you're entitled to another new one.

Only at the retailers discretion, if it is cheaper for them to repair r refund they can do that instead.
The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!

If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!

you bought a policy from game, i wouldnt have botherd myself, ive had to send my old 20gb premium off to be fixed twice for rrod and i exchanged my elite at gamestation due to rrod

and onlyother thing that went wrong was a controller which i exchanged at gs as being faulty

you get 1 years warranty for accessories anyway dont you(could be wrong on this mind)
