Best place to sell cats in bulk

Hi,

I'm breaking quite a lot of cars and expect to have about 20 cats a month if not more. I know I can just take them to the scrappy when I weight the shell in and get paid for them seperate (as with batteries) but has anyone experience of selling large numbersd and getting a better price?

The majority of stuff I can find on the net only relates to the US where they will take them and pay you for the actual value of the contents once they have been processed, not just a per unit price.

Thanks for any help

    Hi Goldspanners,

Unfortunately Im nowhere near mate. Im based in St helens, Just between liverpool and manchester.

I know I can take them to a scrappy, there's plenty about here but I'm thinking one that mainly deals in Cats may give a better price than a general scrappy for bulk volume
  • find a scrappy that seperates thier ferrous and non ferrous metals, then get it to the non ferrous area. last i heard it was roughly £30 per cat. it may have changed since then, that was a good few months ago.

Sorry, I can hardly type for laughing, after saying thanks to Gloomendoom (we must be on the same wavelength).
I reckon our local takeaway will buy as many cats as you can supply them.
  • Theres a chap in Preston I know that used to buy them from garages/breakers and hoard them. He'd then run a 7.5tonner down to London... to whom or where I dont know. If I come across his details I'll PM you...

Can I ask as your breaking stuff what your paying to get rid of the scrap tyres nowadays?......

And for anyone that chips in Kwik Fit charge £3 disposal.... dream on... the recyclers dont get a sniff of anywhere near that £3... I'd be on a hot sunny beach now if they did:D

I have 6 tyres (all pretty good tread on them) I need to get rid of, however my local Council don't take them, even if I take them to the tip and I am not paying someone £40 to come and take them away!

Hide them inside some large black bags?

Amazing what you can get rid of at the tip or the "household waste recovery centre" as they are known around here, in strong black bags! :p;)
  • Stick the tyres on ebay.
