Has anyone managed to get any success with the Debit card Chargebacks?
I was wondering if it was worth it as all my payments were made this way!
Also, my bank is... yes, you guessed it... HBOS!! Now, it would be very interesting to find out if it was successful!!!0 -
No joy from my bank as yet, regarding charge backs, but I too have received a letter this morning from my local MP saying there's loads happening and their going to try & do everyhting they can for us, if I hear anything from either the bank or MP, I'll post on here.0

I have not been affected by the Farepak administration but I hope something does get sorted for those that have lost out.
I was brought up in a household where the hamper and vouchers were paid for in a similar scheme and I know how devastated my Mother would have been if this happened to us, especially so close to Christmas.Disclaimer: Any spelling mistakes or incorrect grammar is purely coincidental and in no way reflects the intelligence of the author.0 -
Time is ticking I can't see anything getting sorted out before Christmas and I don't fancy hanging on much more. If the BRC do sort anything out closer to Christmas knowing my luck everything I want to get will of sold out.
What is everyone else doing buying now or waiting to see if the BRC sort something out?0 -
black-saturn wrote:Your right I wasn't being rude. Maybe I should have worded it differently. I am just as shocked as everyone else is. I literally wondered what people spent so much on thats all. I was worried about people getting into debt for christmas. I hope everyone gets their money back and ideally some compensation and I hope everyone has a great christmas.
In future it might be a good idea to save the monthly amount you pay in a high interest bank account. That way you get the interest and not them and you will be able to buy far more with the money than any hamper will give you. But please don't take it the wrong way. I'm trying to help.
Please don't all jump down my throat and start calling me un called for names.
Firstly let me say i am so upset for all of you , i know what it is like to struggle even tho hubby works but i dont as i am disabeld and cant work because of the illnesses i have got.I was thinking at the beginning of the year about saving up for the vouchers too , i am so glad now hubby said just put the money in the pot and save that way .
this is for black Saturn, i am sure you did not mean to upset people and i am usualy the one who gets her words to come out wrong lol , you say " you cant understand why people get into debt for christmas" but with theese sort of companies you dont get into debt you pay them in advance for the vouchers you want to buy the christmas presents/food etc with over 45 weeks so in fact you are saving the money up with them and in turn they send you the vouchers which you have saved up for the 45 weeks previous.
I feel so sorry for all of you and i wish i could do something to make this a bit better for you all, even tho we wont have a lot to give .0 -
Have just been on the Farepak website - just in case there might have been any more info - not likely.
Anyway there is now an agents claim form & a customer claim form - does that mean we have to resubmit our details again, or will our original claims do.
Surely it wont make things any easier for them if we submit the same things again and again, but then I dont want to miss out should we have to do it?
Anyone already phoned and asked?0 -
I am just one of the many agents who has been devastated by the farepak
collapse.
I have paid in £6680 on behalf of my 15 customers and myself.
I saw the advice on your website about getting the bank to claim Farepak's
bank if we had paid via Visa Debit Card.
I have made all my payments by Visa debit card, so I contacted the Bank of
scotland today. I must say that they have been extremely unhelpful and
have tried everything to put me off going down this route. The first
person I spoke to kept insisting that there procedure was that I had to
phone the Farepak help number to make my claim before the bank would speak
to me., even though I explained that I had already made a claim with
Farepak via their website. She then told me that they were extremely busy
and no-one could speak to me until Monday 6th November.
When I came off the phone exasperated, I realised that this appointment
was two weeks away, I called the bank back and explained how angry I was
with their lack of help and that I was thinking of contacting the
newspapers. They miraculously managed to find an appointment for me today
at 13:30.
When I got to the bank the lady I spoke to was still not very helpful, she
either did not understand what I wanted her to do or was deliberately
trying to confuse me. but I stuck to my story and insisted that she read
the advice I had gotten from your site. I also had to threaten going to
the newspaper before she finaly filled in a claim form for me. She then
admitted that a coleague of hers had put a claim in several days before
for another customer and had got a reply back stating that the bank could
do nothing and that this is the answer that she is expecting that I will
get also.
I could not believe the banks attitude, I have been a customer for over 10
years and am angry that they have not tried harder to help me with this
matter.
All I can do now is await their reply but if they say that they cannot
help, can you advise what I should do next.0 -
Me Too,my bank ,Bank of Scotland filled chargeck form out for me last week and a few days later got a call saying they would not go ahead as farepak may still give us somthing back ,so until farepak administrators decide how much we will recieve am at a standstill with this.bank was unhelpful to begin with but like you I insisted and read out advise from this site,I would also like some advise as of what to do next thanks0

I have also just phoned Bank of Scotland and been told the same advice as phillic. I am absolutely exasperated by this. The guy just said there was basically no hope although I can fill out a claim form "if I want"!!! B*****ds.0
