I know exactly how you feel, I keep watching the news waiting for some kind of good news. I have got a letter from my local MP today though stating that he is doing all he can to support the trade and industry minister Ian McCartney in his investigations.
  • I'm still in a state about this and have just had to tell my 7 and 9 year old children what has happened I have told all family and friends that there will be nothing from us this year. However I find it a huge comfort seeing some of the fantastic idea that so many have. My saving grace is that I'm not a bad cook so have made loads of jam and chutney and can make most of the family a small fruit cake. I intend to give these from the children as gifts for their grandparents ect.

We live in a small town and have no bargin shop for about 50 miles in any direction so poping in anywhere to find bargins is never going to happen.

I've just read that in the house of commons yesterday the matter of Farepak was raised and they have requested for customers payments to be ringfenced and calls upon the Government and the administrator, BDO Stoy Hayward, to do everything in their power to recover and return as much of the company's customers savings as possible.

If we keep at it and keep it in the media as suggested by Max Clifford then maybe an exception will be made for this situation.

I can access it via that link I've just posted so I hope you can too, on my MP's website it says October 20 but just noticed the actual page says October 18.

That this House views with deep concern the closure of Farepack, the Christmas voucher and hamper company; is appalled that many families with modest means who have been saving towards Christmas with the company could now lose those savings; notes that the Hamper Industry Trade Association, whose code of practice is designed to ensure security of savings, asked for customers' payments to be ring-fenced; and calls upon the Government and the administrator, BDO Stoy Hayward, to do everything in their power to recover and return as much of the company's customers' savings as possible.

    Hi Everyone,

Firstly can I just say how very sorry I am for all of the people who have lost their money in all of this, I know lots of people who have been affected by this and I think....well I just can't find the words to express how I feel.

I took my daughter to her dancing club this morning and quite a few mums in there have lost vouchers with farepak, however they also said that they have heard that some of the shops are not going to honour ANY vouchers at all as they are have also been frightened by the whole fiasco etc. Does anyone know if this is true?

    Thanks,

    Karen.xx
